Berga sotmet a informació pública la reurbanització de la plaça de les Cols

The Berga City Council has initially approved the municipal works project for the redevelopment of Plaça de les Cols and the streets of Mossèn Huch and Pompeu Fabra, with a contract budget of 619,637.58 euros. The corporate Plenary adopted the agreement in the session of October 22, 2026, and the announcement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Barcelona on October 26, 2026 (official reference: CVE 202610158434), which opens a fifteen-working-day period for public information.

The project was drafted by architects Sara Vima Grau, Aleix Salazar Aloy, and Isaac Colin Ramió, and is being processed via an urgency procedure. The file, identified by number 7809/2026, includes the list of affected assets and rights, in accordance with Article 40 of the Regulations for works, activities, and services of local entities, and without prejudice to the provisions of Article 110.b of Legislative Decree 1/2010, of August 3, which approves the revised text of the Urban Planning Law.

Three work phases with differentiated amounts

The action is divided into three areas, each with its own valuation within the global budget:

  • Phase 1: Plaça de les Cols area, 359,162.97 euros.
  • Phase 2: Carrer Mossèn Huch area, 68,069.59 euros.
  • Phase 3: Carrer Pompeu Fabra area, 192,405.02 euros.

The square phase concentrates more than half of the planned investment, while the two road actions total 260,474.61 euros. The project affects the central core of the city, where residential homes and commercial premises coexist.

Fifteen working days to submit objections

The file is submitted for public information for fifteen working days, with the insertion of edicts in the Official Gazette of the Province of Barcelona, the Official Gazette of the Generalitat de Catalunya, and the municipal website. If no objections are submitted once the deadline has passed, the project will be definitively approved provided that a favorable report without prescriptions is received from the project supervision office.

In the event of definitive approval, the agreement will be published on the edicts board, in the provincial gazette, and in the DOGC. This approval will entail the declaration of public utility and the need for occupation of the lands and buildings included in the area, for the purpose of compulsory expropriation. In the same agreement, the Plenary authorized the mayor of Berga, Ivan Sánchez Rodríguez, to complete the procedures that may be appropriate for the approval of the project.

The precedent of the property on Carrer del Balç

The processing follows after the provincial bulletin published another municipal announcement on September 25, 2026, regarding the same action (official reference: CVE 202610141600). In that case, the City Council provisionally declared the specific need to occupy the property at Carrer del Balç, 13, to allocate it for a communications system, and approved the list of affected assets and rights.

The list included four entities under a horizontal property regime: a ground-floor commercial-residential unit and three dwellings, each with a built area of 48 square meters. The listed owners are Jordi Pujol Perarnau and Lluís Vilamu Perarnau, and the impact is total in all cases. At that time, a period of twenty business days was opened for allegations, and it was foreseen that, in the absence of allegations, the provisional approval would become final and the compulsory expropriation proceedings would be initiated.

Impact on the urban center

The publication consolidates the schedule for a work project called to transform the public space of Berga’s center and to condition mobility and commercial activity there for months. With the project under public review and the tender in sight, affected neighbors, merchants, and owners have fifteen business days to examine the file and submit allegations.
