Benissa extends the public information period for the general plan and incorporates flood risk mapping
Por FactBox Admin

The Plenary of the Benissa City Council, in an ordinary session held on September 29, 2026, agreed to extend by 30 business days the public information period of the General Structural Plan and its annexes, as well as the strategic environmental and territorial study, such that the process remains open until November 30, 2026, inclusive. The agreement, published in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat Valenciana (DOGV) no. 10471, of October 15, 2026, also incorporates a floodability study as an annex to the plan and subjects it to its own public exhibition period of 45 days.
The announcement is included in section V, Announcements, section A) Territorial Planning and Urbanism, and bears the official reference DOGV-C-2026-31636. The edict was signed in Benissa on October 5, 2026, by the mayor-president, Arturo Poquet Ribes.
Extension of the public exhibition period
The first agreement of the Plenary extends the public information of the General Structural Plan and its annexes, along with the strategic environmental and territorial study, by an additional period of 30 business days. The count begins the day after October 19, 2026, and concludes on November 30, 2026, date included.
The measure affects the initial version of the plan, according to the heading of the announcement itself, and was adopted in the same plenary session in which the incorporation of the new technical document was approved.
The floodability study and its 45-day process
The Plenary approved the incorporation of the floodability study into the complementary study documentation of the General Structural Plan of Benissa. The document was presented by the plan’s drafting team via a written submission with entry registry 2026-E-RE-7438, in which its formal integration into the plan’s documentation is declared.
The study does not share the same calendar as the rest of the file: it is subject to public information for 45 days, counted from the day following the publication of the edict in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat Valenciana. That is, the specific period for the floodability study begins to run with the official dissemination of the announcement, while the general extension of the plan continues until November 30.
Where to consult the documentation
The agreement orders the publication of the edict in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat Valenciana and on the Benissa City Council website, through the Transparency Portal and the electronic office notice board. The documentation can be examined at:
- The offices of the Urban Planning Department, at avenida del País Valencià, 164 (plaza de Maria Crespo Font).
- The Transparency Portal of the electronic office of the Benissa City Council, section 7.3, corresponding to documents in process.
- The public link https://benissa.sedelectronica.es/transparency.
Impact for neighbors and owners
The decision directly affects those who own land or housing within the municipal boundary, because the General Structural Plan defines the future layout of the municipality and the floodability study introduces the risk of flooding as a technical criterion within the file. The extension of the deadline provides more room to submit objections, and the separate 45-day procedure opens a second avenue for participation focused exclusively on flood-prone areas.
For owners, the schedule is now twofold: until November 30, 2026, for the plan as a whole and its annexes, and 45 days from the publication of the edict in the DOGV for the floodability study. The documentation is available both at the municipal Urban Planning offices and on the electronic headquarters, so that any interested party can consult it before deciding whether to file an objection.
