The Plenary of the Benidorm City Council, in an ordinary session held on July 30, 2026, agreed to approve the modification of urban taxi fares, in accordance with the favorable report of the Price Commission of the Generalitat and as established in article 18.1 of Law 13/2017, of November 8, on Taxi of the Valencian Community. The agreement has been made public through the public information notice titled «Benidorm 2026 urban taxi fare update», published in the Official Bulletin of the Province of Alicante of August 12, 2026, with announcement number 6303/2026.
The review reaches the province’s main tourist city, where urban taxi is an essential service for both residents and the thousands of visitors who travel daily between the urban area, the beach area and the city’s access points. The update is processed within the framework of regional taxi regulations, which require the mandatory report of the regional pricing body so that town councils can modify their fares, and is published in section III (Local Administration) of the provincial bulletin, on page 1, for the general information of users and professionals in the sector.
The new amounts
The modification establishes two differentiated urban fares depending on the day and time slot, with the following amounts:
- Fare 1 (Monday to Friday, non-holidays, from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.): flag drop, €3.60; per kilometer, €1.02; waiting hour, €21.49; minimum fare, €5.00.
- Fare 2 (every day from 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., plus Saturdays, Sundays and holidays): flag drop, €4.25; per kilometer, €1.16; waiting hour, €26.08; minimum fare, €5.50.
The system maintains a night and weekend surcharge over the daytime fare, both in the flag drop and in the price per kilometer and in the waiting hour, with minimum fares that guarantee a minimum amount per service in both sections.
Regulatory framework and procedure
The procedure complies with article 18.1 of Law 13/2017, of November 8, on Taxi of the Valencian Community, which regulates the fare system of the service and requires the favorable report of the Price Commission of the Generalitat before the municipal plenary approves the modification. The plenary agreement adopted on July 30 incorporates the amounts favorably reported by the regional body, under the conditions set out in the published fare table.
Public information procedure
The agreement is subject to public information through its insertion in the Official Bulletin of the Province of Alicante of August 12, 2026, within the Local Administration section, with reference 6303/2026 and initial pagination on page 1 of the bulletin. The announcement includes the plenary decision and the details of the new fares, so that both users and sector associations can know the amounts that will govern urban journeys in the municipality.
The fare update has a direct impact on mobility in Benidorm, a municipality that concentrates high tourist activity throughout the year and, intensely, in the summer season in which this publication is framed. The new amounts determine the cost of the service for users who use taxis on urban routes, and establish the economic framework in which license holders and drivers operate, in a balance that the municipal plenary has approved with the endorsement of the Price Commission of the Generalitat and that is now exposed in the official bulletin of the province.
