Benicarló opens grants to promote local gastronomic tourism

Benicarló activates a line of economic aid to position its gastronomy as a tourist driver. The Benicarló City Council has approved the granting of subsidies under a competitive bidding regime aimed at restaurateur associations, with the aim of financing actions to promote gastronomic tourism during the year 2026. The call for applications was published on 15 August 2026 in the Official Gazette of the Province of Castellón, number 98.
The regulatory bases were approved by Decree of the delegate councillor for the Tourism area, María Inmaculada Calvet Mojón, dated 12 August 2026, two days before their official publication. The document, registered under number 03697-2026-U, falls within the provisions of articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of Law 38/2003, of 17 November, General Law on Subsidies.
Purpose and beneficiaries
The purpose of the call for applications is to regulate the procedures for granting aid so that restaurant associations in Benicarló can carry out actions that boost the municipality’s gastronomic reputation and attract visitors. Only restaurateur associations registered in the municipality may apply for these subsidies, and the funded actions must be directly linked to the promotion of gastronomic tourism.

Applications must be submitted within 15 business days counted from the day following the publication of the notice of the call for applications and the bases in the Official Gazette of the Province of Castellón. This period begins on 18 August 2026, the first business day after the publication on 15 August, a public holiday on Friday.
