Becerreá definitively approves a credit supplement of 199,456 euros

The Becerreá City Council has definitively approved a credit supplement of 199,456.98 euros in the current municipal budget, fully financed by the liquid treasury surplus. The decision, adopted after no claims were filed against the initial agreement, was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Lugo number 187, dated August 18, 2026, under reference R. 2207.

The credit modification file, identified as MC 06/26 SC 01/26, was initially approved in an extraordinary session held on June 18, 2026. As no claims were recorded, the agreement became definitive and was inserted into the gazette in accordance with the provisions of article 169.3 of the Recast Text of the Law Regulating Local Treasuries, approved by Legislative Royal Decree 2/2004, of March 5. The document was signed on July 22, 2026, by the mayor, Mr. Manuel Martínez Núñez.

Financing with treasury surplus

The modification will be financed using the liquid treasury surplus for general expenses, under budget application 870.00, for a total amount of 199,456.98 euros. In this way, the council covers the new expenditure increases without the need to resort to additional borrowing.

Destination of funds

The expenditure increases are distributed among basic services and municipal management, with particular weight on personnel remuneration and social security:

• Sewerage and domestic drinking water supply (basic remuneration, other remunerations, and social security).
• Waste collection (remuneration, transport elements, insurance premiums, and work by other companies).
• Public lighting (machinery, technical installations, and tools).
• Popular festivals and celebrations, with 35,000 euros in other miscellaneous expenses.
• Sports facilities (machinery, fuels, other expenses, and replacement investments for 25,000 euros).
• Social assistance and social center (remuneration and social security).
• Educational centers for preschool and primary education (salaries, supplements, and social security).
• General administration (personnel, social security, transport elements for 16,000 euros, insurance premiums, and other expenses).
• Economic and fiscal policy and management of the tax system.
• Public libraries, cultural promotion, and fairs.

Relevance for the residents

The credit supplement allows the Becerreá City Council to reinforce the financing of essential services for the residents, from drinking water supply and waste collection to the maintenance of sports facilities and the programming of popular festivals. Since it is financed with the treasury surplus, the operation does not increase the municipal debt, which reinforces the financial sustainability of the council in the current fiscal year.
