Barrundia auctions three stray horses for 700 euros

The Barrundia City Council has announced the public auction of three horses found in the municipality that lack identification and for which no person claiming ownership has appeared. The call is published in the Official Gazette of the Historical Territory of Álava (BOTHA), number 105, dated September 14, 2026, and is signed by the mayor-president Igor Medina Isasa in Ozaeta on September 9, 2026.
These are male equine animals, of native or mixed breed, with meat aptitude, approximately two years of age and not fit for consumption. The starting price is set at 700.00 euros, an amount that must be improved upwards by interested parties.
Characteristics of the animals
The three specimens will be delivered to the successful bidder along with their passport, identified and registered in the name of the auction winner. The technical characteristics of the animals are as follows:
- Equine animals, male sex.
- Breed: native or mixed.
- Meat aptitude.
- Approximate age: two years.
- Not fit for consumption.
Requirements and submission of bids
Interested parties must be holders of a holding with an active REGA code for the equine species. Bids shall be submitted in a sealed envelope at the offices of the Barrundia City Council, from 10:00 to 14:00 hours, Monday to Friday, within a period of fifteen business days starting from the day following the insertion of the announcement in the BOTHA.
The contracting board is formed within the structure of the city council, and the president of the ASGAEQUINO association will be invited to participate in the process.
Relevance of the call
This auction of stray livestock offers an opportunity for livestock farmers and holders of equine holdings in the region, who will be able to acquire the animals at a reduced starting price. The call also reinforces the administrative procedure for disposing of ownerless animals, guaranteeing their identification and registration in the name of the new owner.
