The Head of Internal Medicine of the Barakaldo-Sestao organization has retired

The managing director of the OSI Barakaldo-Sestao organization of Osakidetza-Basque Health Service, through Resolution 2037/2026, has approved the cessation of Rafael Silvariño Fernández as head of the Internal Medicine service due to retirement. The resolution will take effect from August 1, 2026, and was published in the Official Gazette of the Basque Country (BOPV) number 164, on August 28, 2026, with official reference 2026/3728.

Provisions of the cessation

Rafael Silvariño Fernández was appointed head of the Internal Medicine service at the OSI Barakaldo-Sestao organization through Resolution 302/2012 of December 20, 2012. Now, the management has decided on the vacation of the position due to retirement, and has thanked him for the services rendered.

The resolution contains three main provisions:

  • Cessation due to retirement, expressing gratitude to Rafael Silvariño Fernández.
  • Effects to take place from August 1, 2026.
  • Publication of the resolution in the BOPV and notification to the interested party and the OSI Barakaldo-Sestao organization.

Regulatory framework and appeals

The resolution was issued based on Law 8/1997, of June 26, and Decree 255/1997, of November 11, and other applicable provisions. Managing director Eneko Gutiérrez Coterón signed it in Barakaldo, on July 14, 2026.

The interested party may file an appeal for reversal before the general director of Osakidetza-Basque Health Service, within a period of one month starting from the day following its publication in the BOPV.
