The Banco de Costa Rica (BCR) is opening a market study for the purchase of four high-volume banknote counting, sorting, and verifying machines, capable of processing Costa Rican colones, US dollars, and euros. The call is published in La Gaceta No. 171 on Thursday, September 10, 2026, and interested parties have ten business days to submit their proposals electronically.

The tender, identified by SICOP code 44102501-92080595, is promoted by the BCR’s Auxiliary Services and Institutional Transport Equipment Unit. Technical characteristics of the machines

The requested equipment must meet high-capacity and authenticity verification specifications:

  • Integrated printer and a feed speed of 42,000 banknotes per hour.
  • Compatible with banknotes from 60 to 90 mm in height and 110 to 180 mm in length.
