Balazote modifies the municipal drinking water rate for home delivery

The Balazote City Council has initially approved the modification of the Fiscal Ordinance regulating the tax for domestic drinking water supply, a decision adopted by the Plenary in an extraordinary session held on August 6, 2026. The agreement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Albacete, number 96, dated August 19, 2026, and opens a thirty-day public information period that will affect the water bills of all residents of the municipality.

The processing is carried out under Article 17.2 of the revised text of the Law regulating Local Treasuries, approved by Royal Legislative Decree 2/2004, of March 5. The file is subject to public information for a period of thirty days starting from the day following the insertion of the announcement in the provincial gazette, so that interested parties may examine it and submit any claims they deem appropriate.

Period for allegations and file consultation

During the public information period, any interested party may examine the file at the municipal offices and formulate any allegations they consider pertinent. The document will also be available electronically on the City Council’s electronic headquarters.

Final approval

If no allegations have been submitted after the thirty-day period, the agreement will be considered definitively approved without the need for a new vote. Otherwise, the Plenary must resolve the submitted claims before the final approval of the modified ordinance.

Impact for residents

The modification of the fiscal ordinance will directly affect the amount of the water bill for homes and businesses in Balazote, therefore citizen participation during the allegations period is key to adjusting the text before its final approval. Interested residents have one month to learn about the new tax criteria and, if applicable, submit their observations to the City Council.
