Baiona opens call for 12,000 euros in cultural grants

Por FactBox Admin

The Baiona City Council has opened the call for grants, under a competitive bidding process, aimed at centers, entities, and non-profit associations that organize cultural activities during the year 2026. The call, approved by agreement of the Local Government Board on June 10, 2026, was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Pontevedra (BOPPO) on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, number 167, and has a total credit of 12,000 euros.

The grants are processed under article 232 of Royal Decree 2568/1986, of November 28, and Law 9/2007, of June 13, on Subsidies of Galicia, among other regulations. The objective is to support, promote, and disseminate the cultural activities developed by entities in the municipality, with special attention to the promotion and recovery of local culture and traditions.

Credit and amount of grants

The call is financed through budget application 334-48900 of the General Budget of 2026, which has an allocation of 12,000 euros, according to the credit retention accounting document no. 1915. The amount per beneficiary has the following limitations:

  • Maximum amount of 1,000 euros per entity, which may increase proportionally based on the number of applications up to the limit of the available credit.
  • The grant cannot exceed 80% of the budget presented for eligible expenses.
  • If the sum of the proposed amounts exceeds the allocation, proportional reductions will be applied.

The final amount of each grant will be calculated based on the score obtained, in brackets ranging from 200 euros (11 to 20 points) up to 1,000 euros (91 to 100 points).

Who can apply and which expenses are subsidized

Non-profit entities with a tax domicile and headquarters in Baiona, registered in the municipal registry of associations and up to date with their obligations to the AEAT, the Xunta de Galicia, Social Security, and the City Council itself, may be beneficiaries. Only one grant will be awarded per entity.

Eligible expenses derived from the organization of cultural activities include, among others:

  • Cultural exchanges and educational excursions or outings.
  • Folklore festivals, dance, music, singing, and theater performances.
  • Contests, competitions, and exhibitions.
  • Talks, colloquiums, presentations, and workshops.
  • Popular celebrations, except for patron saint and parish festivals.

End-of-year parties, parish celebrations, investment expenses in works and inventoriable assets, and activities already subsidized in other municipal calls are excluded. Activities must start and end between January 1 and October 30, 2026.

Deadline, submission, and justification

Applications shall be submitted within a period of 20 calendar days starting from the day following the publication of the summary of the call in the BOPPO, and only through the City Council’s electronic office, at http://baiona.sedelectronica.gal. The documentation includes the application (Annex I), the responsible declaration (Annex II), the explanatory memorandum with a balanced budget (Annex III), and certificates proving that tax obligations are up to date.

The assessment is the responsibility of the Assessment Commission, chaired by the mayor and the head of the Culture Area, and the provisional resolution shall be submitted to the Local Government Board. Beneficiary entities must justify the grants, also via the electronic office, by the deadline of November 15, 2026, providing invoices equivalent to 125% of the granted amount.
