Badajoz announces the III Audiovisual Awards against Gender-Based Violence

The Provincial Council of Badajoz has announced the third edition of its audiovisual awards against sexist violence, with a maximum prize pool of 6,000 euros, aimed at students of compulsory secondary education (ESO), Vocational Training, and Baccalaureate in the province. The call for entries is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz number 183, dated September 24, 2026, through Announcement 3678/2026, which contains the specific rules, and its summary, Announcement 3683/2026. The deadline for submitting proposals is 30 calendar days starting from the day following the publication.

The initiative is framed within Organic Law 3/2007, of March 22, for the effective equality of women and men, and Law 8/2011, of March 23, on Equality between women and men and against gender-based violence in Extremadura. The decree recalls that the Provincial Council specially dedicates the month of November to awareness actions against sexist violence and cites UN data according to which more than 73% of women have suffered some type of violence on the Internet and 90% of the victims of non-consensual dissemination of intimate images are women. The call is also aligned with Sustainable Development Goal number 5, “Gender Equality,” of the 2030 Agenda.

Four categories and 6,000 euros in prizes

The maximum available budget is 6,000 euros, charged to budget application 18/2313/78000/0500 of the current budgets of the Provincial Council of Badajoz, with the corresponding credit retention. A first and second prize will be awarded in each of the four categories:

• Category I: social media format (vertical video 9:16, maximum one minute) for ESO, Transition to Adult Life Programs, and Basic Vocational Training.
• Category II: standard video format (horizontal, between 1 and 5 minutes) for ESO, PTVA, and Basic Vocational Training.
• Category III: social media format (vertical 9:16, maximum one minute) for Baccalaureate and intermediate and higher-level Vocational Training.
• Category IV: standard video format (horizontal, between 1 and 5 minutes) for Baccalaureate and intermediate and higher-level Vocational Training.

Each first prize is endowed with 1,000 euros for the acquisition of audiovisual material for the educational center of the winning group, and each second prize with 500 euros, in both cases accompanied by a diploma of recognition for each participant. The prizes may be declared void if the works do not meet sufficient merit.

Group participation and submission of works

Participation is group-based, with a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 people per group, and each group must have the supervision of a person from the center’s teaching team. Each participant may only join one group per category, and an application must be submitted for each category in which they wish to compete.

Applications, addressed to the President of the Provincial Council of Badajoz, shall be submitted by teaching staff using the standardized forms:

• Annex I: application for participation.
• Annex II: authorization for student participation and transfer of image and dissemination rights.
• Annex III: explanatory memorandum, message, and objectives of the work, maximum one page, signed by the supervising teacher.

The works must be original and unpublished, featuring royalty-free music and images, and must be delivered on a USB flash drive at the headquarters of the Equality Area or through the usual registration channels. If the proposal does not meet the requirements, rectification is required within 10 business days.

Evaluation, jury, and resolution

Proposals are scored out of a maximum of 40 points: clarity of the message and suitability to the theme (15), originality and creativity (5), quality and technical execution (5), and the ability to generate reflection and prevention of sexist violence among youth and adolescents (15). In the event of a tie, the score in the latter criterion shall prevail, followed by the clarity of the message.

The Evaluation Commission will be chaired by the coordinator of the Equality Area, with the Head of the Equality Service serving as secretary, with a voice but no vote, and members from the Area’s Department, the Equality Office, the Innovation and Digital Administration Area, and the Communication Office. The maximum period to resolve and publish the resolution is one month from the end of the application period, and the resolution will be published in the Official Gazette of the Province and on the electronic headquarters. The call is signed by the President, by delegation the Delegate Deputy of the Equality Area, Lourdes Linares Matito, with the acknowledgment of the Secretary General, Enrique Pedrero Balas.

The call reinforces the provincial institution’s commitment to the prevention of sexist violence among adolescents, a group particularly exposed to new forms of digital violence. The winning works will be disseminated in the awareness campaigns of the Equality Area and in the communication channels of the Provincial Council of Badajoz, so that the students’ message reaches the general public.
