Badajoz grants 192,000 euros to sixteen development cooperation projects

The Municipal Institute of Social Services of Badajoz has definitively resolved the granting of subsidies for development cooperation projects for the 2026 and 2027 fiscal years, for a total amount of 192,000.00 euros distributed among sixteen entities. The resolution is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz no. 180, dated September 21, 2026, under reference Announcement 3659/2026. No allegations or waivers were submitted regarding the provisional proposal.

The call was approved by a resolution of the Vice Presidency of the Municipal Institute of Social Services on March 27, 2026, following a favorable report from the Municipal Council for Development Cooperation, under a competitive bidding process. Its summary was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz no. 65, dated April 8, 2026, with a twenty-business-day deadline for submitting applications, which ended on May 7, 2026.

The procedure is governed by Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Law on Subsidies, and its regulation (Royal Decree 887/2006, of July 21), as well as by the General Subsidy Ordinance of the City Council of Badajoz, published in the BOP on February 2, 2009. The authority to issue the definitive resolution corresponds to the Vice Presidency of the IMSS, and the document is signed by Juan Pérez Márquez, by virtue of the Presidency decree of February 2, 2024 (BOP of February 16, 2024).

Distribution: 192,000 euros among sixteen entities

The amounts were calculated proportionally to the score obtained by each entity according to the criteria of the call, with a total of 1,266.00 points. The approved distribution is as follows:

• Asociación de Celíacos de Extremadura: 94.75 points, 14,369.67 euros.
• Cooperación para el Desarrollo Vicenciana: 92.50 points, 14,028.44 euros.
• Misión América: 89.00 points, 13,497.63 euros.
• Spanish Red Cross: 88.50 points, 13,421.80 euros.
• Asociación de Colaboración y Esfuerzo Extremadura (ACOES): 87.00 points, 13,194.31 euros.
• Manos Unidas: 87.00 points, 13,194.31 euros.
• CEDECCO: 86.00 points, 13,042.65 euros.
• Fundación Atabal para la Cooperación al Desarrollo: 84.00 points, 12,739.34 euros.
• Asociación Nuestra Señora de la Asunción: 83.50 points, 12,663.51 euros.
• Asamblea de Cooperación por la Paz: 78.00 points, 11,829.38 euros.
• Asociación Cooperación Sacuanjoche: 75.50 points, 11,450.24 euros.
• Asociación Solidaridad con Guinea Bissau: 72.00 points, 10,919.43 euros.
• Solidaridad, Educación y Desarrollo: 69.25 points, 10,502.37 euros.
• Fundación Taller Solidaridad: 65.00 points, 9,857.82 euros.
• Fundación Solidaridad Don Bosco: 61.25 points, 9,289.10 euros.
• Asociación Promoción Claretiana para el Desarrollo Bética: 52.75 points, 8,000.00 euros.

Destinations: from Nicaragua to Guinea Bissau

The admitted projects will be executed in twelve countries: Nicaragua, Sierra Leone, Algeria, Guatemala, Cameroon, Mali, Honduras, Bolivia, Colombia, Uganda, Mozambique, and Guinea Bissau. Among the actions are access to formal education for rural youth in Santa Teresa (Nicaragua), the improvement of food security in the Biriwa Limba chiefdom (Sierra Leone), care for the Sahrawi celiac community in the Tindouf camps (Algeria), and the guarantee of the right to food in the community of La Garrucha (Guatemala).

Reformulations, exclusion, and payment schedule

The Evaluation Commission approved the reformulations submitted by seven entities —Cooperación para el Desarrollo Vicenciana, Asamblea de Cooperación por la Paz, Asociación Solidaridad con Guinea Bissau, Fundación Solidaridad Don Bosco, Solidaridad, Educación y Desarrollo, Fundación Taller Solidaridad, and Asociación Promoción Claretiana para el Desarrollo—, all consisting of budget adjustments with no effect on scores or amounts. The instructing body acknowledges an incident in the incorporation or visualization of these documents in the processing system.

The Asociación Extremadura Entiende is excluded from the procedure for failing to comply with the fifth basis of the call, as it does not have a headquarters, delegation, or permanent representation in the municipality of Badajoz, nor is it registered in the Municipal Registry of Associations.

Payment will be made through advances and successive disbursements: an initial payment of 50% of the 2026 annual amount following the final resolution, and the remainder once that annual amount has been justified. The 2026 justification must be submitted before November 1, 2026, and that of 2027 within three months from the end of the project and, in any case, before November 1, 2027. The execution period extends from January 1, 2026, to November 1, 2027.

The resolution closes the procedure and enables the entities to receive the funds, but also sets strict obligations regarding publicity, justification, and control. The grant will be understood as accepted if, ten calendar days after its publication in the BOP, the beneficiaries do not expressly waive it; failure to provide justification within the deadline may result in the loss of the right to payment or the reimbursement of funds received.
