Baños de Montemayor definitively approves its municipal flood plan
Por FactBox Admin

The Plenary of the Baños de Montemayor City Council definitively approved, by unanimity of the attending members, the Municipal Action Plan for Flood Risk in the municipality. The agreement was adopted in an ordinary session held on September 15, 2026, and is now made public in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cáceres on October 6, 2026, in the announcement with reference BOP-2026-4656. The document is signed by the mayor-president, María de las Nieves del Vado Fernández, in Baños de Montemayor on October 1, 2026.
The plan is a local-level planning instrument integrated into the Special Civil Protection Plan for Flood Risk of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura (INUNCAEX), and is approved in accordance with Law 10/2019, of April 11, on Civil Protection and Emergency Management of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura. The essential details of the agreement are:
- Deciding body: Plenary of the Baños de Montemayor City Council.
- Session date: September 15, 2026, ordinary session.
- Voting: unanimity of the attending members.
- Drafting company: AQUADUCTO INGENIERÍA Y SERVICIOS EXTREMEÑOS, S.L.
- Integration framework: INUNCAEX and Law 10/2019, of April 11.
- Publication: BOP-2026-4656, BOP no. 0191, of October 6, 2026, page 22814.
The regional framework is completed by Decree 32/2023, of April 5, which regulates the Registry of Civil Protection Plans of Extremadura and establishes its structure, minimum content, and regime for approval, maintenance, and implementation; this decree is invoked in other approval announcements published in the same gazette. The processing of these plans has been constant in recent weeks in the province: during the same period, approvals or public notices have been published for Carcaboso (BOP-2026-4506), Villar de Plasencia (BOP-2026-4562), Coria (BOP-2026-4631), Zarza de Montánchez (BOP-2026-4472), and Aliseda (BOP-2026-3829).
A municipal alert and action system
According to the model for these plans, as detailed in the approval announcement for the Carcaboso plan (BOP-2026-4506), the objective is to establish the municipal system for information, forecasting, alert, and action in the event of flood emergencies, ensuring the maximum protection of people, property, and the environment. In the case of Baños de Montemayor, the text was drafted by the company AQUADUCTO INGENIERÍA Y SERVICIOS EXTREMEÑOS, S.L., a firm that also appears as the author of the plans for other Cáceres municipalities published during the same period.
Prior verification and regional integration
In the analogous procedures published in the bulletin, the General Directorate of Civil Protection and Emergency Response verifies that the plan meets the required technical requirements and the minimum contents established in the INUNCAEX, and the Permanent Civil Protection Commission of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura issues a favorable report prior to plenary approval. Integration into the regional plan allows the local apparatus to be activated in a coordinated manner with the resources of the Junta de Extremadura when a flood emergency is declared.
Consultation of the full text
The announcement indicates that the full text of the Plan can be consulted at the municipal offices and on the City Council’s electronic headquarters:
