Azuaga calls for a manager to boost local commerce

The Azuaga City Council has published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz (number 174, dated September 11, 2026) Announcement 3549/2026, calling for the filling of a temporary position for a Commercial Dynamization Manager, under the status of interim civil servant and via a competitive examination system. The call, approved by Mayoral Decree number 2026/796, dated September 4, opens a application period of ten business days starting from the day following its publication.

The position is considered to be of urgent and non-deferrable coverage, as it is essential to have a qualified person to promote and dynamize small retail trade in Azuaga and La Cardenchosa, across all commercial areas and spaces, including the municipal food market.

A position funded by regional grants

The hiring is part of the grant program for the hiring of commercial dynamization managers of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura for the 2026-2029 fiscal years. The guidelines are based on Decree 167/2024, of December 26, modified by Decree 183/2025, of December 16, and the resolution of April 1, 2026, of the General Secretariat approving the call for grants.

The contract will run from October 1, 2026, to September 30, 2029, full-time, group A2, level 20, and remuneration according to the civil servant salary tables.

Requirements and required qualifications

Applicants must meet the general requirements of Article 56 of the TREBEP and hold one of the following qualifications:

Diploma in Business Studies, Degree in Economics, Degree in Business Administration and Management, or Degree in Marketing and Market Research.
Equivalent degrees in the fields of business administration and management, economics, advertising and public relations, marketing and market research, and trade.

Additionally, they must commit to completing the specific training courses provided by Extremadura Avante Servicios Avanzados a Pymes, SLU, within the program aimed at retail trade in Extremadura.

Selection process and manager functions

The competitive phase will consist of the presentation and defense of a project in which the candidate develops the activities and initiatives they would implement during the three-year duration of the position. The project shall have a maximum length of 15 double-sided pages, in Times New Roman size 12 with 1.5 line spacing, and will be valued with up to 5 points for structure and content and another 5 for the public defense, with a minimum of five points required to pass the test.

Among the manager’s functions, the following stand out:

Develop commercial animation projects under Decree 130/2024, of October 15, regarding grants for the promotion of trade in Extremadura.
Coordinate and collaborate with merchant associations and promote associationism in areas without an association.
Promote cooperation between trade and sectors such as tourism, leisure, and hospitality.
Collaborate with the Secretariat of Economy, Business and Trade and with Extremadura Avante to disseminate plans aimed at retail trade.

The provisional list of admitted and excluded candidates will be published on the electronic office and the municipal notice board, with a period of two business days for appeals. The proposed person will be appointed by the Mayor, María Natividad Fuentes del Puerto, and a job pool will be formed, valid until the end of the program, to cover possible sick leaves, vacations, or resignations.
