Aznalcóllar announces grants of up to 30,000 euros for university studies

The Aznalcóllar City Council has approved the regulatory bases and the call for financial aid to support university, higher vocational training (grado superior), and intermediate vocational training (grado medio) studies for the 2026/2027 academic year. The decision was adopted through Mayoral Resolution number 360/2026, of September 19, 2026, signed by the Mayor-President, Juan José Fernández Garrido, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Seville (BOP) number 186, of Thursday, September 24, 2026, on page 19, with the official reference CVE: BOP-SE-2026-186004.

Object and Purpose of the Aid

The call, processed under file number 2026/SYU_01/000097, aims to regulate the granting of aid to registered residents who are pursuing university, higher vocational, or intermediate vocational studies and who lack subsidized transportation. The procedure is resolved under a competitive bidding regime, respecting the principles of publicity, objectivity, free competition, and equality.

The stated purpose is to help cover the costs of purchasing educational materials, the rental of properties in the town where the teaching center is located, and travel expenses. The City Council justifies the measure based on its objective to increase the level of education of the citizenry and to prevent the family’s economic situation from limiting educational opportunities.

Applicant Requirements

Aid may be requested by persons registered in the town for at least one year who meet the general requirements of Article 13 of Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Subsidies Law, and additionally:

• Not exceed an annual income per person of the family unit equal to or greater than the Multi-Purpose Income Indicator (IPREM) for 2025, set at 8,400 euros; applications exceeding this amount are excluded and will not be scored.
• Be enrolled in the 2026/2027 course in university, higher vocational, or intermediate vocational education at any Spanish public center, in face-to-face mode and with a minimum of 60 credits, unless fewer remain to complete the studies.
• Be enrolled in a master’s degree necessary to practice the profession at any Spanish public university center.
• Have passed at least 50% of the credits in which they were enrolled in the 2025/2026 course.

Charter (concertados) and private centers are exceptionally admitted when the non-existence of a public center for that subject in the province of Seville is proven.

Amount, Deadline, and Processing

The call for applications has a budget allocation assigned to application 334.481.00, up to a maximum total amount of 30,000 euros, although the resolution approves an initial expenditure of 8,000.00 euros. The amount of each grant will depend on the number of applicants and will be a single amount per beneficiary until the allocation is exhausted, and it is compatible with other subsidies or grants for the same purpose.

Applications shall be submitted via a general request form at the Municipal Registry, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., or through any of the channels specified in Article 16 of Law 39/2015, within a period of 20 calendar days from the publication in the Edicts Board, the municipal website, and the BOP. The required documentation includes:

• General request form and ID (DNI) of the applicant and, where applicable, their legal representative.
• Family record book and a copy of the enrollment for the course for which the grant is requested.
• Copy of the enrollment for the previous course and grade transcripts.
• Proof of income for the family unit via income tax return (IRPF) or certification from agencies and companies.
• Bank certificate of account ownership and, where applicable, proof of mortgage or rental agreement for the primary residence.

The Evaluation Committee will submit a final proposal to the Mayor’s Office, which will resolve the matter within 15 business days. Defects in the applications may be corrected within 10 calendar days. The grant will be paid via bank transfer for 100% of the granted amount.

Relevance

The call reinforces municipal support for families in Aznalcóllar with students outside the municipality, a group particularly affected by travel and accommodation costs. The 20-calendar-day deadline from the publication in the BOP means that applications must be submitted in the coming weeks, and the income threshold set by the IPREM limits access to households with fewer resources.
