School supply grants for Early Childhood Education in Santa Cruz de Bezana

The Santa Cruz de Bezana City Council has approved the regulatory bases for the granting of aid intended for the acquisition of school materials for Early Childhood Education students of the first cycle (2 years) and the second cycle (3, 4, and 5 years) for the 2026-2027 academic year. The decision was adopted by Mayoral Resolution, with the assistance of the Governing Board held on August 26, 2026, and is published in the Official Gazette of Cantabria number 169, dated September 2, 2026, with reference CVE-2026-6870 and file 1308/2026.
The aid will be granted on a competitive basis and will directly benefit families with children registered as residents in the municipality and enrolled in Early Childhood Education centers. The budget allocation for the 2026 fiscal year amounts to a maximum of 10,000 euros, allocated to budget item 231.48000, titled “Welfare Grants,” and included in the 2026-2027 Strategic Grant Plan approved by Mayoral Resolution with the assistance of the Local Governing Board on May 28, 2025.
Requirements and beneficiaries
Boys and girls registered as residents in Santa Cruz de Bezana and enrolled in Early Childhood Education of the first cycle (2 years) and the second cycle (3, 4, and 5 years) may apply for the aid. Additionally, applicants must have duly justified any grants or aid previously received and must not fall under any of the grounds for prohibition from becoming a beneficiary as provided for in the Cantabria Law 10/2006, of July 17, on Cantabria Grants.
The call is governed by Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Law on Grants, the aforementioned Cantabria Law 10/2006, its implementing Regulation, and the City Council’s General Grant Ordinance.
Amounts and income thresholds
The City Council will grant the following financial aid for the acquisition of school materials:
- 50 euros for each student enrolled in a 2-year-old classroom in the municipality.
- 100 euros for each minor attending the second cycle of Early Childhood Education.
To access the aid, maximum family income thresholds are established, calculated based on the last three payslips or reliable income documents:
- 2-member families: 1,519.36 euros net/month.
- 3-member families: 2,279.04 euros net/month.
- 4-member families: 3,038.72 euros net/month.
- 5-member families: 3,798.40 euros net/month.
- 6-member families: 4,558.08 euros net/month.
- 7-member families: 5,317.76 euros net/month.
If any member has a disability of 65% or higher, 3,700 euros will be added to the threshold, and in the case of a large family, it will be increased by 1,850 euros starting from the third member inclusive. In the event that not all applications can be covered due to the budget limit, they will be attended to in strict order of receipt, with preference for applications from people with a disability of 65% or higher.
Deadlines and Processing
Applications must be submitted at the Municipal Registry or through the means provided for in article 16.4 of Law 39/2015, within a period of fifteen business days counting from the day following the publication of the summary of the call in the Official Gazette of Cantabria. The required documentation includes an application according to the model in Annex I, a photocopy of the Family Book, a certificate from the school center, proof of income, a third-party form or bank account ownership certificate, certification of disability or large family title and, where applicable, the judgment and regulatory agreement in case of separation.
The instruction will be the responsibility of the Councilor in charge of the Education Area, with the Municipal Social Services as the organizing body. The maximum period for resolution will be six months from the end of the submission period, and payment will be made in advance, without the need for a guarantee, within three months following the granting agreement. Beneficiaries must justify the fulfillment of the purpose before December 31, 2026.
The resolution, signed by the acting mayor Manuela Bolado Alcalde on August 27, 2026, represents direct relief for the families of the municipality at the start of the school year, by covering part of the expenditure on school materials for the youngest children and reinforcing the policy of support for work-life balance and early childhood education in Santa Cruz de Bezana.
