Hybrid cogeneration and wind plant authorized in Guía
Por FactBox Admin

The General Directorate of Energy of the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Energy of the Government of the Canary Islands has granted the entity Conagrican, S.L. the administrative authorization for the project titled “Hybrid Generation Plant (cogeneration-wind) of 499 kW”, located in the municipality of Santa María de Guía, on the island of Gran Canaria. The decision is formalized through Resolution No. 1386, dated September 1, 2026, and is publicized via an announcement published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands number 185, corresponding to Tuesday, September 15, 2026.
The announcement, which is framed within the other announcements section of the gazette, corresponds to file ER250040 and makes known the full content of the resolution, which remains available on the official page of the General Directorate of Energy.
A step toward the insular energy transition
The authorization is part of the archipelago’s strategy to diversify its energy matrix and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. The hybrid plant combines two generation technologies—cogeneration and wind—in a single installation with a capacity of 499 kW, a model that allows for the complementarity of both sources to be leveraged to improve efficiency and supply stability.
The project is being developed in the municipality of Santa María de Guía, in the north of Gran Canaria, an area that thus joins the implementation of distributed generation facilities across the insular territory.
Details of the resolution
The resolution was issued by the Director General of Energy and signed, by delegation of powers, by the Head of the Technical Energy Area, Alberto Miguel Blasco Lorenzo, by virtue of Resolution No. 462/2026, dated March 20, 2026. The document was signed in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on September 1, 2026.
The essential data of the authorization are as follows:
- Beneficiary: Conagrican, S.L.
- Project: Hybrid Generation Plant (cogeneration-wind) of 499 kW
- Location: municipality of Santa María de Guía, Gran Canaria
- File: ER250040
- Resolution: No. 1386, dated September 1, 2026
- Issuing body: General Directorate of Energy, of the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Energy
Relevance for the territory
The granting of this administrative authorization represents a concrete advance in the implementation of hybrid generation facilities in the Canary Islands, a model that the archipelago is promoting to leverage its renewable resources and move toward decarbonization. The combination of cogeneration and wind in a single plant allows for the optimization of available energy use and contributes to the security of the electricity supply on the island.
With this resolution, Santa María de Guía joins the map of Canarian municipalities hosting hybrid generation projects, in line with the energy transition objectives set for the insular territory as a whole.
