Renewal of the Navalmoral de la Mata power line authorized

The Industrial, Energy, and Mining Planning Service of the Ministry of Industry, Energy, Science, and Territory has granted i-DE Redes Eléctricas Inteligentes, SAU, the prior administrative authorization to renew the medium-voltage underground line connecting the “Murillo” and “Jose Armella” transformation centers in Navalmoral de la Mata (Cáceres). The resolution, signed on September 2, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of Extremadura number 178, dated September 15, 2026, with official reference 2026062296 and file AT-9722.
The action is framed within the authorization regime provided for in Law 24/2013, of December 26, on the Electricity Sector, and in Title VII of Royal Decree 1955/2000, of December 1, which regulate the construction and modification of electricity distribution facilities. Competence corresponds to the Autonomous Community of Extremadura by virtue of article 9.1.37 of the Statute of Autonomy, exercised through the General Directorate of Industry, Energy, and Mines.
The technical project
The new medium-voltage underground line will replace the existing route to improve the urban electricity supply of the town. Its essential data are as follows:
- Start: line cell of the “Murillo” transformation center (no. 140502270).
- End: splices on Las Minas street with the existing line connecting the “Murillo” TC and the “Jose Armella” TC (no. 903303558).
- Total length: 0.194 km.
- Service voltage: 20 kV.
- Line type: underground single circuit.
- Conductor: HEPRZ1 12/20 kV 3x(1x240) mm².
- Location: municipal land, via Murillo street, Antonio M.ª Concha street (EX-380), and Las Minas street.
As a complementary action, 0.135 km of PR3PFJ 12/20 kV 3x95 Al CIRC type underground conductor will be dismantled or left unused.
Processing and conditions
The application was submitted by the company on December 10, 2025, and the project was submitted for public information with publication in the Official Gazette of Extremadura on February 23, 2026. During that process, no objections were filed, and the company accepted the conditions established by the Public Administrations and public service companies consulted. Due to its characteristics, the project is not subject to any environmental assessment procedure.
The authorization is granted under conditions, including compliance with Law 24/2013 and its implementing provisions, strict adherence to the submitted project, and the need for prior authorization for any modification. The resolution is issued without prejudice to the licenses and permits within the competence of the municipality or other bodies necessary for the execution of the works.
Appeals
Against the resolution, which does not exhaust administrative remedies, an appeal (recurso de alzada) may be filed before the General Directorate of Industry, Energy and Mines within one month, in accordance with Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure. The document is signed by delegation by Rafael Ramos Mora, Head of the Standardization and Supply Quality Service.
The renewal of this 20 kV underground line will result in greater reliability and quality of the electricity supply in the urban center of Navalmoral de la Mata, one of the main towns in the province of Cáceres, by replacing a section of aged conductor with one of greater cross-section and capacity.
