A 7.56 MW battery authorized in Madridejos for the Entrecaminos photovoltaic plant

Por FactBox Admin

Autorizada en Madridejos una batería de 7,56 MW para la fotovoltaica Entrecaminos

The General Directorate of Energy Transition of the Ministry of Sustainable Development of the Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha has granted the prior administrative authorization and the administrative construction authorization for the Entrecaminos BESS storage facility, intended to hybridize the Entrecaminos solar photovoltaic plant in the municipality of Madridejos (Toledo). The decision is formalized in the Resolution of 09/30/2026, published in the Official Gazette of Castilla-La Mancha (DOCM) no. 194, of October 8, 2026, section III, with the official reference [2026/7183].

A 7.56 MW battery alongside the existing plant

The project consists of the hybridization of the Entrecaminos solar photovoltaic production facility, with an installed capacity of 8,314 kW, through an electrochemical battery energy storage module with 7.56 MW of installed power and 30.09 MWh of four-hour storage capacity, for a granted power of 7.20 MW. The storage plant will be located within the solar enclosure of the photovoltaic plant to be hybridized, in plot 120 of polygon 10 in Madridejos (Toledo).

The owner of the facility is Energía Kinich, S.L.U. (NIF B98918048), which submitted the application on July 21, 2025. The file is processed under the reference 2713/00007 - 2703/01133 (DP: PE-584-CII). The technical documentation is a revised version of the project, authored by Juan José García Pajuelo, industrial technical engineer with membership number 2117 of the Official College of Industrial Experts and Technical Engineers of Badajoz.

Technical characteristics of the installation

According to the resolution, the main elements are as follows:

  • Six battery containers, model Power Titán 2.0 ST5015UX – 4H from Sungrow, with 5,015 kWh of storage each.
  • Each container has six inverters with a unit power of 210 kW, totaling 1,260 kW of power.
  • A Power Station or transformation center, model MVS5140-LS, 0.69/30 kV and 5,140 kVA, with a 120 kVA transformer for auxiliary services.
  • A Power Station or transformation center, model MVS3460-LS, 0.69/30 kV and 3,460 kVA, with a 120 kVA transformer for auxiliary services.
  • Internal 30 kV network with underground lines using AL RHZ1-OL 18/30 kV conductors and a total length of 106 meters.
  • Sectioning center with line and measurement cells, reverse power relay (function 32), and a coordinated control system.

Evacuation is carried out via the existing 30 kV overhead line to the Madridejos Solar 30/132 kV step-up substation and, from there, via a 132 kV underground line to the Madridejos 132 kV substation, owned by UFD Distribución Electricidad (Naturgy Group). The access and connection permits for the hybridization were updated by the distributor on 03/03/2026.

Public information without allegations and favorable reports

The Entrecaminos photovoltaic plant, with 7.2 MW installed and 7.2 MW of access capacity, has held an operating authorization since the resolution of 04/02/2025. The public information announcement regarding the hybridization, dated 30/04/2026, from the Provincial Delegation of Sustainable Development of Toledo, was published in DOCM no. 112 of 16/06/2026 and on the Junta’s electronic notice board, with no allegations recorded.

During the processing, governed by Decree 80/2007 of June 19, reports were gathered from the affected administrations:

  • Madridejos City Council: no report was received within the deadline, therefore conformity is assumed.
  • Guadiana Hydrographic Confederation: report dated 9/7/2026, with no impact on basin competencies.
  • Culture Service of the Provincial Delegation of Education, Culture and Sports in Toledo: report dated 29/04/2026 with conditions.
  • Environmental Quality Service: report dated 18/11/2025, which rules out a substantial modification and a new environmental impact assessment procedure.
  • Provincial Delegation of Sustainable Development in Toledo and Energy Installations and Technologies Service: favorable reports.

The authorization is subject, among other conditions, to compliance with the environmental impact statement formulated by resolution of 11/11/2020 and to obtaining the remaining necessary authorizations. An administrative appeal (recurso de alzada) may be filed against the resolution, which does not exhaust administrative remedies, before the head of the Ministry of Sustainable Development within a maximum period of one month. The document is signed by the Director General of Energy Transition, Alipio García Rodríguez.

Impact for the municipality and the sector

Hybridization allows an already operational photovoltaic plant to incorporate battery storage, which improves the manageability of the energy produced and the utilization of the grid access capacity. For Madridejos, the resolution consolidates an energy investment on industrial land already occupied by the solar facility, without new land occupation, and reinforces the role of the Toledo Mancha region as a concentration zone for renewable energy and storage facilities.
