Asturias announces 9.69 million in social grants for the Third Sector

The Department of Social Rights and Welfare of the Principality of Asturias has announced grants totaling 9,690,000 euros for the implementation of general interest programs with social purposes during the year 2027. The call is published via an extract of the Resolution of August 12, 2026, collected in the Official Gazette of the Principality of Asturias (BOPA) No. 162, of August 21, 2026, with code 2026-06919 and registered in the National Grants Database (BDNS) with identifier 924978.

The grants are funded by tax allocations from 0.7% of Personal Income Tax and Corporate Tax, intended to cover social assistance and welfare needs and to promote volunteering within the regional government’s jurisdiction. Beneficiaries may include the Red Cross and entities defined in Article 2 of Law 43/2015, of October 9, on the Third Sector of Social Action, that meet the requirements of the regulatory bases.

Five areas of action

The credit is distributed among five areas of action, with specific lines for childhood and social integration:

• A-Active, inclusive, and meaningful longevity: 1,225,000 €.
• B-Guarantee of children’s and family rights: 2,000,000 €.
• C-Promotion of personal autonomy and prevention of dependency: 2,932,000 €.
• D-Social integration and active inclusion of especially vulnerable populations: 3,350,000 €.
• E-Solidary participation of citizens: 183,000 €.

Specific lines of action

The childhood and family area is broken down into three lines: prevention and support for family capacity and responsibility (1,040,000 €), promotion of children’s rights and child participation (440,000 €), and complementarity to foster care and adoption and support for the socio-labor integration of young people leaving the protection system (520,000 €).

The social integration area is organized into nine lines, notably including the attention to basic needs of people in poverty (545,000 €), the inclusion of people at risk of exclusion and comprehensive care for homeless people (1,300,000 €), the social promotion of the Roma community (340,000 €), and care for women in situations of vulnerability (320,000 €). The block is completed by lines for vulnerable immigrants (225,000 €), prisoners and ex-prisoners (190,000 €), drug addiction care networks (240,000 €), people with HIV/AIDS (15,000 €), and vulnerable youth (175,000 €).

Submission of applications

Applications, which must be submitted electronically, are addressed to different services depending on the scope, using their corresponding DIR code. The deadline is 15 business days starting from the day following the publication of the summary in the BOPA. The reasoned resolution must be adopted and notified within a maximum of 4 months from the end of the deadline; the absence of an express resolution shall be understood as a rejection.

The call is governed by the regulatory bases approved by the Resolution of November 29, 2022, of the same department (BOPA no. 232, of December 2). Due to the absence of the head of the department, the resolution is signed by the Minister of Health, Concepción Saavedra Rielo, by virtue of Decree 11/2026, of June 4.

Impact for the Third Sector

The call represents significant financial support for Asturian social entities, which will be able to finance programs for longevity, childhood, dependency, and integration during 2027. The redistribution of unapplied credit between scopes and lines ensures that funds are maximized in a context where the Third Sector faces a growing demand for care for vulnerable groups.
