Asturias grants aid to fifteen returned emigrants for 66,825 euros

The Regional Ministry of Presidency, Demographic Challenge, Equality and Tourism of the Principality of Asturias has resolved the fourth group of applications for direct financial aid for returned Asturian emigrants for the 2026 fiscal year, granting a total of 66,825 euros to 15 beneficiaries. The resolution, signed on August 19, 2026, by the regional minister Gimena Llamedo González, is published in the Official Gazette of the Principality of Asturias (BOPA) number 169, dated September 1, 2026, with code 2026-07088.

Regulatory framework and background

The aid is based on the fourteenth additional provision of the Law of the Principality of Asturias 5/2025, of December 31, on the General Budgets for 2026, which recognizes the right of returned Asturian emigrants to financial aid of up to 6,000 euros to contribute to their adaptation and settlement in Asturias. The public call was approved by Resolution of February 24, 2026, with a total budget of 500,000 euros charged to the budgetary application 11.07.313B.484.058.

The instructing body is the Directorate General for Emigration and Return Policies. In this fourth group, 19 applications were processed: 15 meet all requirements, 2 are denied for failing to comply with the fourth clause of the call, and 2 are declared withdrawn for failing to correct deficiencies within the deadline. The amount is calculated at a rate of 300 euros per point, with an increase of 25% when the family unit is registered as residing in a council with special demographic difficulties.

Obligations and appeals

Beneficiaries must maintain their registration (empadronamiento) in a council of the Principality for two years from the date of granting. This resolution exhausts the administrative route; a contentious-administrative appeal may be filed before the High Court of Justice of Asturias within two months, or an optional appeal for reversal (recurso potestativo de reposición) within one month. The amounts and beneficiaries will also be published on the Principality’s Transparency Portal.

This fourth resolution consolidates the Principality’s demographic policy to reverse population loss, facilitating the return of Asturians residing abroad through direct financial support that encourages their settlement, especially in councils with the greatest demographic difficulties.
