Asturias opens the 2026 Amparo Pedregal Prize with a grant of 5,000 euros

The Principality of Asturias has opened the public call under a competitive bidding process for the 2026 “Amparo Pedregal” Prize, with a fund of 5,000 euros and aimed at women authors of fictional literary works and authors of research papers with a gender perspective. The call is approved by the Resolution of September 2, 2026, of the Department of Presidency, Demographic Challenge, Equality, and Tourism, and its summary is published in the Official Gazette of the Principality of Asturias (BOPA) no. 182, of September 21, 2026, with the official reference 2026-07591. The deadline for submitting applications is thirty business days starting from the day following said publication.

The call is supported by articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of the General Subsidies Law 38/2003, of November 17, and has the National Subsidies Database identifier BDNS 929087, where the full text can be consulted. The current regulatory bases are those approved by the Resolution of November 19, 2020, of the Presidency of the Principality of Asturias (BOPA no. 240, of December 15, 2020). The resolution bears the signature of the counselor Gimena Llamedo González.

Two lines and two awards of 2,500 euros

The prize seeks to recognize and disseminate fictional literary works created by women, as well as research papers with a gender perspective, and is organized into two modalities:

• First line: fictional literary works in the modality of theater.
• Second line: research papers with a gender perspective related to equality between women and men.

The total amount of expenditure allocated to the call is five thousand euros (5,000 €). One literary work and one research paper will be awarded, with a financial endowment of 2,500 euros for each.

Who can apply

Adults born or residing in the Principality of Asturias, as well as descendants up to the second degree of Asturian emigration, may apply for the award:

• In the first line: women authors of literary works, individually or as part of collectives.
• In the second line: authors of research papers with a gender perspective linked to equality between women and men.

When a group of people applies, it must be gender-balanced.

Evaluation criteria and submission of applications

Each work and each project may obtain a maximum of forty (40) points. In the first line, artistic quality, contributions to the knowledge of new situations and needs, strategic contributions, and innovative character are valued, with 10 points for each criterion. In the second line, scientific quality is scored (10 points, broken down into theme, content, methodology and structure, writing and spelling) and, again, contributions to knowledge, strategic contributions, and innovative character, with 10 points each.

The Service Sheet containing the full text of the resolution, complementary information, and the standardized application form is published on the electronic office of the Administration of the Principality of Asturias (miprincipado.asturias.es), which can be located by entering the code PREM0021T01 in the header search bar. The application can be initiated electronically from that same sheet.

The call for applications reaches Asturian female creators, researchers, and cultural entities with a tight schedule: the thirty-business-day period begins on September 22, 2026, and requires the documentation and project to be prepared before that date. The award thus maintains institutional support for literary creation and research with a gender perspective in the autonomous community.
