Asturias opens 100,000 euro call for traditional culture in Asturian

The Official Gazette of the Principality of Asturias (BOPA) publishes in issue number 172, dated September 4, 2026, the extract of the Resolution of August 27, 2026, from the Department of Culture, Linguistic Policy and Sport, which approves the call for grants for traditional culture projects in Asturian and in Galician-Asturian or Eonavian, promoted by local entities. The call, identified in the National Grants Database with the code BDNS 926827, has a budget of 100,000 euros for the line destined for local entities.

The grants are awarded on a competitive basis and aim for the dissemination, recovery, and preservation of traditional Asturian culture carried out in the Asturian language or in Galician-Asturian or Eonavian. The regulatory bases were approved by Resolution of July 21, 2026, from the Department of Culture, Linguistic Policy and Tourism, published in BOPA no. 146, of July 30, 2026.

Beneficiaries and object

Local entities and their local autonomous bodies located within the territorial scope of the Principality of Asturias may apply for the grant, to which the provisions of Decree 105/2005, of October 19, which regulates the granting of subsidies to local entities under a public call regime, shall apply. Eligible projects may cover seven areas of traditional culture:

• Folklore: traditional music, dance, and oral literature of Asturias.
• Trades and crafts: preservation, dissemination, and practice of own artisanal trades and techniques.
• Traditional sports and games: promotion, recovery, and teaching of indigenous games and sports.
• Gastronomy: conservation and dissemination of traditional Asturian cuisine, its products, and techniques.
• Traditional architecture and construction: study, protection, and dissemination of characteristic buildings and construction methods.
• Clothing: documentation, conservation, and enhancement of traditional dress and its accessories.
• Festivities and masquerades: research, recovery, and promotion of popular celebrations and traditional masquerades.

Amounts and evaluation criteria

The maximum eligible amount per project will be 15,000 euros for local entities, and the grant may finance up to 90% of the approved budget. No more than two projects may be submitted per entity. Only projects that reach or exceed the minimum score of 50 points will receive aid, and 100% of the requested amount will be granted in order of highest to lowest score until the available credit is exhausted. The evaluation is distributed across four criteria:

• Degree of linguistic correction of the project: up to 20 points.
• Interest of the project to be subsidized: up to 45 points.
• Experience and track record of the responsible persons in the field of native languages and Asturian culture: up to 20 points.
• Gender perspective, based on the presence of women in the team and the contribution to effective equality: up to 15 points.

Deadlines and processing

The deadline for submitting applications is fifteen business days starting from the day following the publication of the summary in the BOPA. The maximum deadline for the justification of the granted aid will be November 10, 2026. The Service Sheet with code AYUD0584 is published on the electronic headquarters of the Principality of Asturias, which contains the full text of the resolution, the standardized form, and the possibility of initiating the application electronically. The resolution is signed by the Councilor for Culture, Linguistic Policy, and Sport, Vanessa Gutiérrez González, in Oviedo/Uviéu.

The call reinforces the Principality’s commitment to the protection of its native languages and an intangible heritage that ranges from folklore and trades to gastronomy and masquerades. For Asturian city councils and local entities, it represents an opportunity to finance projects that keep traditional culture alive, with a short application window that requires agility in processing.
