The Department of Culture, Linguistic Policy and Sport of the Principality of Asturias has submitted the preliminary draft of the Museum Centers Law of the Principality of Asturias for public consultation, a regulation that will govern the regime of museums and museum centers within the community. This decision is detailed in the Resolution of August 21, 2026, published in the Official Gazette of the Principality of Asturias (BOPA) number 172, dated September 4, 2026, with code 2026-07181.
Within a period of twenty (20) business days, any entities or individuals who wish to do so may submit allegations regarding the text, which will be available on the participation portal www.asturiasparticipa.es of the Administration of the Principality. The resolution, signed in Oviedo by the Councilor Ana Vanessa Gutiérrez González, thus continues a procedure initiated more than two years ago.
A process initiated in 2024
The preliminary draft began its processing with the Resolution of May 27, 2024, from the Councilor of Culture, Linguistic Policy and Sport, which initiated the procedure for its drafting and approval. Shortly thereafter, on June 3, 2024, the text was submitted to a prior public consultation with the aim of gathering the opinions of the most representative subjects and organizations potentially affected.
The opening of the public information process is based on Article 33.2 of the Law of the Principality of Asturias 2/1995, of March 13, on the Legal Regime of the Administration of the Principality, in relation to Articles 83 and 133 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.
How to submit allegations
Allegations must be addressed to the General Technical Secretariat of the Department of Culture, Linguistic Policy and Sport and may be submitted through any of the means provided for in Article 16.4 of Law 39/2015. For this purpose, the standardized form available in Service Sheet DECO0065T01 –Generic Request–, published at https://sede.asturias.es/, shall be used.
- Deadline for allegations: 20 business days from publication.
- Recipient: General Technical Secretariat of the Department.
- Text available at: www.asturiasparticipa.es.
- Submission form: Service Sheet DECO0065T01.
A regulation with impact on the cultural sector
The future law will directly affect the museums and museum centers of the Principality, as well as the managing entities and the citizens who visit them, by establishing the regulatory framework for their organization, operation, and legal regime. Public participation in this phase will allow museums, associations, and individuals to influence the final content before its parliamentary processing.
