ASIC to strike four Australian bodies off the register

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) will strike three Australian bodies off the register three months after publication of its notice, and has already struck off a fourth, under the Corporations Act 2001. The decisions are published in the ASIC Gazette No. A36/26 of Tuesday 8 September 2026, in the Company/scheme deregistrations section.

The notices, dated 4 September 2026, are issued under two provisions of the Corporations Act. Under section 601CC(3), ASIC will strike the listed bodies off the register three months after publication unless it is given acceptable reason not to proceed; under section 601CC(4), the bodies listed have already been struck off.

Bodies facing deregistration

Under section 601CC(3), ASIC will strike the following registered Australian bodies off the register three months after publication of the notice, unless given acceptable reason not to proceed:

• AUSTRALIAN CATHOLIC RELIGIOUS AGAINST TRAFFICKING IN HUMANS INC. — ARBN 163 705 673
• AUSTRALIA NEW ZEALAND CONTROL CONFERENCE (ANZCC) STEERING COMMITTEE INCORPORATED — ARBN 619 174 800
• WUSHU & TAI CHI PRACTITIONERS AUSTRALIA INC. — ARBN 149 038 719

The three-month window gives the affected bodies an opportunity to object before the strike-off takes effect. Any of them that can show acceptable grounds not to proceed may still avoid deregistration.

Already struck off

Under section 601CC(4), ASIC has already struck the following registered Australian body off the register:

• AUSTRALIAN FAITH COMMUNITY NURSES ASSOCIATION INCORPORATED — ARBN 636 420 687

Unlike the bodies named under section 601CC(3), this association has already been removed from the register, with the strike-off recorded in the same gazette edition.

What the notices mean

The deregistrations form part of ASIC’s routine administration of the national register of companies and registered bodies. Persons affected by these decisions may have rights of review, as set out in Regulatory Guide 57 (Notification of rights of review) and Information Sheet ASIC decisions – your rights (INFO 9), both available from the ASIC website.

For the bodies still within the three-month objection period, the practical consequence is that their legal existence as registered bodies will end unless they respond. For the association already struck off, deregistration is complete, and any ongoing affairs would need to be addressed through reinstatement procedures under the Corporations Act.
