The Forestry Association of León (ASFOLE) has opened the public auction of two lots of poplar trees valued at 165,000 euros and 49,030.40 euros, according to the announcement published in the Official Gazette of the Province of León no. 204, dated Tuesday, October 27, 2026, with official reference BOP-LE-2026-204030. The deadline for submitting proposals ends on November 10, 2026, at 2:00 PM, and the opening of bids will take place on November 12, 2026, at 12:30 PM at the entity’s headquarters in León.
The harvesting plan approved on October 6
The call for bids stems from the agreement of the Procurement Board of ASFOLE, which on October 6, 2026, approved the ASFOLE 2026 Poplar Timber Harvesting Plan, which provides for the disposal of two lots of trees via public auction. On the same date, the General Specifications for the regulation of timber harvesting of the Forestry Association of León were approved, a document that governs the auction and can be requested via email at asfole@asfole.com.
The two lots subject to bidding are located in the province of León and total 3,107 trees and 2,163.88 cubic meters of wood:
- Quintana del Marco, Genestacio de la Vega sub-basin: 2,680 trees, 1,602.00 m³, valuation of 165,000.00 euros, with certification PEFC/14-21LE/01 00008-AEN.
- Soto de la Vega (Vecilla de la Vega locality), Órbigo sub-basin: 427 trees, 561.88 m³, valuation of 49,030.40 euros.
The method of disposal is standing timber, at the risk and venture of the successful bidder, and upward from the valuation price listed in the announcement table, meaning that offers must exceed the reference amounts.
Deadlines, envelopes, and opening of bids
The period for submitting proposals began with the publication of the announcement and will conclude on November 10, 2026, at 2:00 PM. Offers must be sent to the Forestry Association of León, at Sancho el Gordo, 1, 1.º, office 1, 24009 León. It will be cause for immediate exclusion if either of the two envelopes arrives open or after the deadline.
Before the auction, the Procurement Board will meet to qualify the documentation; material defects considered correctable will be communicated to the interested parties for rectification before 2:00 PM on November 11, 2026. The opening of bids from the admitted bidders will take place at 12:30 PM on November 12, 2026, at the headquarters on Sancho el Gordo street.
Right of first refusal, bond, and cutting schedule
The announcement recognizes a right of first refusal in favor of the holders of the repopulation and forest management contracts for the plots, who may match or exceed the most economically advantageous offer within a maximum period of five calendar days from the day following the opening of the economic bids.
Once the bids have been ranked and the right of first refusal has not been exercised, ASFOLE will request the bidder with the best proposal to present, within five calendar days:
- Receipt of the guarantee of 10% of the award amount, excluding VAT, via a bank guarantee without an expiration date or transfer.
- Copy of the deed or document of incorporation, bylaws, or founding act.
- Certifications of being up to date with tax obligations and with Social Security.
- Registration in the IAE (Economic Activities Tax) corresponding to the object of the contract and the current fiscal year.
The contract will be formalized within five calendar days following the notification of the final award, conditional upon the prior payment of 15% of the harvest plus VAT. The final payment must be paid in full to the owner of the lot no later than December 15, 2026, and in any case, before the cutting. The felling, extraction of products, and removal of residues must be completed before January 31, 2027. The announcement is signed by the president of ASFOLE, José Manuel Martínez Folgado, in León, on October 20, 2026.
The auction is of interest to forestry companies, sawmills, and poplar grove owners in the province, as it sets reference prices for the local poplar wood market and a strict cutting schedule that conditions the planning of the winter campaign.
