Arcos de Jalón announces the vacancy for the position of titular justice of the peace

The City Council of Arcos de Jalón has opened the application period to fill the position of titular justice of the peace for the municipality, which will become vacant on November 11, 2026. The announcement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Soria number 118, corresponding to Wednesday, October 14, 2026, on page 3478, with the official reference BOPSO-118-14102026. Interested parties have 15 business days to submit their application in writing.

The text, signed in Arcos de Jalón on October 7, 2026, by the mayor, Jesús-Ángel Peregrina Molina, recalls that it is the responsibility of the Plenary of the municipal corporation to elect the persons who will be appointed as titular justice of the peace. The designation complies with the provisions of articles 101 and 102 of Organic Law 6/1985, of July 1, of the Judiciary, and articles 4 and 5.1 of Regulation 3/1995, of June 7, of the Justices of the Peace.

The same issue of the gazette includes, on page 3479, the parallel call for the position of substitute justice of the peace, also vacant in Arcos de Jalón and subject to the same procedure and deadline. Both announcements are published “for general knowledge” within the Local Administration section.

A period of 15 business days and two submission methods

Applications must be addressed in writing to the City Council of Arcos de Jalón within a period of 15 business days, counted from the publication of the announcement. Submission can be carried out through two channels:

• At the Entry Registry of the City Council of Arcos de Jalón.
• Through the procedure regulated in article 16.4 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, of the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.

The application form is available to interested parties at the municipal offices and also on the council’s website, www.arcosdejalon.es, where it can be submitted within the established deadline.

Requirements, remuneration, and file consultation

If there are no candidates, the Plenary chooses freely

In that case, the Plenary of the corporation will freely choose the person who will occupy the position, in accordance with article 101 of Organic Law 6/1985, of July 1, of the Judiciary, and articles 4 and 6 of Regulation 3/1995, of June 7, of the Justices of the Peace.

The call for applications leaves the initiative to occupy the position in the hands of the residents: if no one submits a candidacy, the appointment will be left to the Plenary, which may freely appoint any person who meets the requirements. The period of 15 business days opens a limited window for any resident of Arcos de Jalón who meets the legal conditions to formalize their application before the town council.
