Aragón distributes 375,000 euros among film, music, and performing arts festivals

The Government of Aragon has resolved the call for grants for festivals in Aragon for the year 2026, with a final distribution of 374,999.96 euros among associations and foundations, city councils, and companies. The decision is formalized in Order PJC/1360/2026, of September 4, published in the Official Gazette of Aragon number 185, of September 23, 2026, section III “Other Provisions and Agreements” (official reference BOA20260923013). The order bears the signature of the Vice President and Councilor for Presidency, Justice, Culture, and Sport, María del Mar Vaquero Perianez.

A 375,000 euro call in three modalities

The grants were called through Order ECD/495/2026, of March 13 (Official Gazette of Aragon number 61, of March 30, 2026), under the regulatory bases of Order ECD/1248/2022, of September 6, for subsidies in cultural matters. The objective is to support film, performing arts, music, visual arts, and literature festivals developed in Aragonese territory.

The call was endowed with 375,000 euros, with credit reserves per modality:

• 200,000 euros for associations and foundations.
• 125,000 euros for city councils.
• 50,000 euros for companies.

The instructing body is the General Directorate of Culture and Cultural Heritage, dependent on the Department of Presidency, Justice, Culture, and Sport. The Government of Aragon’s Comptroller’s Office issued a favorable prior fiscalization on August 27, 2026.

112 applications and 101 projects evaluated

The application submission period, of ten business days, opened on March 31 and closed on April 15, 2026. 112 applications were received: 56 from associations and foundations, 44 from city councils, and 12 from companies.

The Evaluation Commission, meeting on July 14, 2026, evaluated the remaining 101 projects according to the criteria of the eighteenth section of the call. The proposal for the final resolution was formulated on July 17, 2026, and published on the Department’s website, with ten business days for express acceptance.

From the total applications, the following were left out:

• Seven excluded for presenting projects unrelated to the objective of the call (five not considered festivals, one outside the dates, and another without registry registration).
• One city council application excluded for failing to comply with a section of the call.
• One withdrawn for failing to correct the required documentation, and the withdrawal of Desafinados Colores Sociedad Limitada for the project “Cariñena Divino Festival 2026”.

Withdrawals and distribution of remaining credit

The Libros City Council waived the proposed grant of 10,174.30 euros for the project “Festival Libri-Libros (Teruel)”. Following a new meeting of the Evaluation Commission on August 6, 2026, the remaining 16,259 euros were distributed among three city councils, with 5,419.66 euros each:

• Trasobares City Council.
• Barbastro City Council.
• Bronchales City Council.

In associations and foundations, a remainder of 9,883.04 euros was distributed as 3,294.34 euros each among Aragón Negro Asociación Cultural, Asociación de vecinos Tío Jorge Arrabal, and Asociación Cultural y Gastronómica la Barraca 2.0, with 79 points. In companies, a remainder of 19,650 euros was split into 9,825 euros each between Cosmos Fan Comunicación, SL and Cultura Atómica, SL, with 69 points.

Among the entities proposed as beneficiaries are, among others, Asociación Cultural Gaire, Asociación Cultural El Ardacho, Asociación Cultural Secuencias, Towanda Asociación por la diversidad sexual, ITHEC (Integración Técnica y Humana de Espacios Culturales), Asalto Proyectos Culturales, Fundación García Esteban, Asociación Socio-Cultural de Uncastillo La Lonjeta, Asociación Cultural Jamaimaña, Asociación para la Promoción y Difusión del Cine en Aragón, Asociación Cultural la cocina de Rubén Darío, Asociación Cultural Florián Rey, Asociación Monegrinos Amigos del Séptimo Arte, Grupo de Dulzaineros de Massalgorfa, Asociación Cultural Tamborilé, Agrupación musical de Almonacid de la Sierra, Asociación Cultural Una Higuera en Manhattan, Fundación Festival Cine Huesca, Hacedor de Proyectos, SL, Rodando Turismo e Innovación, SL, and Jorge Apodaca Aísa. The city councils of Graus, Aínsa-Sobrarbe, Canfranc, Daroca, Alcañiz, Belchite, Orés, Épila, Binéfar, and La Almunia de Doña Godina also appear among the beneficiaries.

Justification, de minimis and appeals

The justification period begins the day after publication and ends on November 19, 2026. Expenses incurred between November 14, 2025, and November 13, 2026, paid by November 18, 2026, are accepted via the electronic office of the Administration of the Autonomous Community of Aragon.

The grants are subject to the de minimis regime of Commission Regulation (EU) 2023/2831 of December 13, 2023, with a limit of 300,000 euros per company over three fiscal years. An optional appeal for reversal may be filed against the order within one month, or a contentious-administrative appeal within two months before the Contentious-Administrative Chamber of the High Court of Justice of Aragon. The distribution closes the annual cycle of public support for the Aragonese festival network and sets the economic conditions under which organizing associations, city councils, and companies must execute and justify their programming before the end of November 2026.
