Aragón reparte 350.000 euros entre 45 entidades para alfabetización en salud

The Department of Health of the Government of Aragon has resolved the call for grants for health literacy projects and mutual aid for patients and caregivers for the year 2026, with a distribution of 350,000 euros among 45 non-profit entities. The decision is formalized in Order SAN/1603/2026, dated October 27, signed by Councilor Ángel Sanz Barea, and is published in the Official Gazette of Aragon number 213, dated November 4, 2026 (csv: BOA20261104020), along with the lists of rejected, inadmissible, and withdrawn applications.

The framework: a July call and a care instruction

The call was made through Order SAN/1027/2026, dated July 7, published in the Official Gazette of Aragon number 134, dated July 14, 2026, under the regulatory bases established by Order SAN/335/2016, dated April 15, modified by Order SAN/653/2023, dated May 10, and within the framework of the Strategic Grant Plan of the Department of Health 2025-2028.

The objective was to support health literacy and mutual aid projects carried out by non-profit entities between January 1 and September 30, 2026. The instruction corresponded to the General Directorate of Care and Humanization, whose head formulated the proposal for the final resolution on October 13, 2026, following the report of the Evaluation Commission issued on October 8, 2026. The expenditure is charged to the budgetary application 16060.4135.480054.91002 of the 2026 Budget.

The beneficiary entities and the amounts

Annex I of the order details the score, project cost, and grant awarded. The largest allocations are:

  • Association of Parents of Children with Cancer of Aragon (file 8): 16,743.24 euros, 97 points.
  • Association of Relatives of Alzheimer’s Patients of Zaragoza (file 9): 15,316.26 euros, 89 points.
  • Aragonese Association for Mental Health ASAPME Aragón (file 5): 13,950.26 euros, 88 points.
  • Foundation for the Research of Dravet Syndrome (file 60): 13,636.24 euros, 79 points.
  • Association of Relatives of Alzheimer’s and Other Dementias Patients of Huesca (file 3): 13,463.63 euros, 78 points.
  • Group of Deaf People of Zaragoza and Aragon (file 52): 13,463.63 euros, 78 points.

At the lower end are the Asociación de ayuda a personas con discapacidad de Caspe y comarca (file 61), with 1,002.51 euros and 62 points, and the Asociación de familiares de enfermos de Alzheimer y otras demencias de Fraga (file 24), with 1,921.21 euros and 61 points. The list is completed by provincial and local entities: Alzheimer’s associations from Monzón, Barbastro, and Caspe, ALCER Huesca, COCEMFE Aragón, ATADES, Autismo Aragón, Parkinson Aragón, ASANAR in the list of rejected applications, the Asociación Española contra el Cáncer, the Federación aragonesa de asociaciones de padres de sordos, or the Asociación de enfermos y transplantados hepáticos de Aragón.

Twenty projects excluded due to scoring

Annex II rejects 20 applications for failing to reach the minimum score required in the guidelines; all of them obtained between 36 and 59 points. Among those affected are:

  • Asociación Aragonesa de Esclerosis Lateral Amiotrófica (file 28): 59 points.
  • Fundación Aragonesa de Esclerosis Múltiple (file 30): 59 points.
  • Asociación de mujeres aragonesas de cáncer de mama y genital (file 25): 58 points.
  • AFAPIC (file 37) and AEMC (file 39): 53 points.
  • Fundación ASPACE Zaragoza (file 41): 47 points.
  • Asociación Artritis Oscense (ARO) (file 57): 36 points, the lowest score.

Annex III declares two applications inadmissible: that of Asociación Aragón 3000 (file 1), for failing to meet the requirement of being an association, federation, or foundation of affected persons or family members, and that of Fundación Porque Viven (file 56), for the same reason and for lacking a headquarters in Aragón, as it is based in Madrid. Annex IV records a single withdrawal, that of the Asociación de Familiares y Enfermos de Alzheimer y otras demencias del Bajo Aragón (file 65), for failing to rectify the requirements within the deadline.

Acceptance deadlines and appeal channels

Beneficiary entities have ten business days from the day following publication to express their formal acceptance of the grant; if this period passes without communication, it is understood that they waive it. Justification shall be presented in accordance with the eighteenth section of the call, with a justifying account of all expenses.

Against the order, which exhausts the administrative route, an optional appeal for reversal may be filed before the Consejero de Sanidad within one month, or a contentious-administrative appeal before the Sala de lo Contencioso-administrativo del Tribunal Superior de Justicia de Aragón within two months, both counted from the day following its publication.

The distribution consolidates a stable line of support for the Aragonese healthcare associative fabric, which in this edition concentrates the highest amounts in childhood cancer, Alzheimer’s, and mental health, and excludes about twenty projects based on scoring criteria. For the beneficiary entities, the publication activates an acceptance calendar of only ten business days, while those excluded now have the possibility to appeal or to reorient their projects for the next call.
