Aragón declares the Iridio wind farm in Calatorao and Épila environmentally viable
Por FactBox Admin

The Aragonese Institute of Environmental Management (INAGA) has formulated the environmental impact statement for the PE Iridio wind farm, a 30.5 MW installation promoted by Next Generation Energy Iridio, SLU in the municipal districts of Calatorao, Épila, and Lucena de Jalón (Zaragoza). The decision is contained in the Resolution of October 19, 2026, of the aforementioned institute, the publication of which is ordered in the Official Gazette of Aragon number 214, dated November 5, 2026, within section V of announcements (official reference BOA20261105031). The announcement is dated October 22, 2026, and is signed by Diana Remón Galindo, head of Technical Area III of Industrial Environment.
The procedure is framed within article 33.4 of Law 11/2014, of December 4, on Environmental Prevention and Protection of Aragon, which requires this type of resolution to be publicized in the regional official gazette. The file was processed in the institute dependent on the Department of Environment and Tourism of the Government of Aragon and affects three municipalities in the Valdejalón region and the surroundings of the Jalón riverbank, where the implementation of wind farms has intensified in recent months.
File data
The announcement precisely identifies the object of the resolution and its territorial scope:
- File number: INAGA 500306/01L/2025/10656.
- Holder: Next Generation Energy Iridio, SLU.
- Power: 30.5 MW.
- Affected municipalities: Calatorao, Épila, and Lucena de Jalón (Zaragoza).
- Description: environmental impact statement.
The environmental impact statement is the pronouncement through which the regional environmental Administration determines if the project is compatible with the environment and under what conditions it can be executed. In this case, the published text is limited to publicizing the resolution and referring to the full document, where the measures and conditions that the promoter must assume before and during the construction and operation of the facility are detailed.
Four wind farms from the same family in a single day
The publication of PE Iridio is not an isolated case. The same number 214 of the gazette includes three other environmental impact statements for projects by Next Generation Energy with an identical power of 30.5 MW and a very close territorial scope:
- PE Lantano, in Calatorao, Épila, and Alfamén, file INAGA 500306/01L/2025/10654 (reference BOA20261105032).
- PE Lutecio, in Calatorao, Épila, and Lucena de Jalón, file INAGA 500306/01l/2025/10655 (reference BOA20261105034).
- PE Litio, in Calatorao, Épila, and Lucena de Jalón, file INAGA 500306/01L/2025/10657 (reference BOA20261105033).
All of them are based on INAGA resolutions dated October 19, 2026, and announcements signed on October 22. The previous day, bulletin number 213 had published the declaration for PE Fermio, also 30.5 MW, and on November 5, PE Hidrógeno, 28 MW, in Cariñena, Longares, and Alfamén is added, with a resolution dated October 16, 2026. Together, the same company is promoting a dozen installations along the Zaragoza-Valdejalón-Cariñena axis.
How to consult the full resolution
The announcement indicates that the full information of the resolution can be consulted at the address https://aplicaciones.aragon.es/inachkdoc/ using the Secure Verification Code CSVXR7CL189U6BGHGREG. This document contains the complete environmental conditions, the corrective measures, and the monitoring program that the promoter must comply with.
The publication in the official gazette has practical effects for interested parties: it opens the path for consulting the file and allows them to know the scope of the environmental obligations accompanying the project. Landowners and residents of Calatorao, Épila, and Lucena de Jalón can thus verify how the installation affects them and what measures have been imposed to limit its impact.
Impact on the territory
The news directly affects the residents of the three municipalities, who see the wind farm pass a decisive step before its administrative and execution authorization. The volume of projects concentrated in the same area in just a few weeks anticipates a scenario of multiple installations over a small territory, with cumulative effects on the landscape, birdlife, and agricultural uses.
