Aragón opens applications for the 2026/2027 sports specialization programs

Por FactBox Admin

The General Directorate of Sport of the Government of Aragon has announced the call for access to the Sports Technical Training Programs for the 2026/2027 season and for the 2027 annual period for Aragonese sports federations. This is established by the Resolution of July 31, 2026, signed by the general director Cristina García Torres, published in the Official Gazette of Aragon number 160, of August 19, 2026, in section III of Other Provisions and Agreements (reference BOA20260819021).

The call is part of the Aragon Sports Technical Training Plan (PTDA) 2024/2028, approved on August 8, 2024, and aims for the detection, selection, and monitoring of athletes who will make up the Aragonese national teams and represent the Community in national and international competitions.

Regulatory Framework

The resolution is based on the exclusive competence in sports matters that the Statute of Autonomy of Aragon (Organic Law 5/2007) attributes to the Community, and on Law 16/2018, of December 4, on physical activity and sport in Aragon, whose article 17 regulates high-performance sport and chapter IV of title II regulates sports technical training. It also cites Law 39/2022, of December 30, on Sport, which considers high-level sport to be of interest to the State.

Aragonese sports federations will annually submit their programs for each specialty, specifying which of the three PTDA models they apply:

  • Talent Acquisition Program (PCT): minimum 20 hours.
  • Improvement Technical Training Program (PTM): minimum 60 hours.
  • Qualified Technical Training Program (PTC): minimum 120 hours.

In the 2026/2027 exercise, hours dedicated to competition may not exceed 20% of the total program.

Submission Deadlines

The application submission period opens on September 1, 2026, and varies according to the program development model:

  • By sports season: annual programming (Annex I) until September 15, 2026; quarterly reports on December 31, 2026, March 31, and July 31, 2027; final report on July 31, 2027.
  • By calendar year: documentation (Annex I) until November 10, 2026; quarterly reports on April 30, July 31, and November 10, 2027; final report on November 10, 2027.

Applications shall be submitted electronically through the Electronic Office of the Public Administration of Aragon. Seasonal programs must be recognized by resolution before September 30, 2026, and those for the 2027 annual period before November 30, 2026.

Recognition and Appeals

The submitted programs may be approved for the purpose of their assessment in the ordinary grants for Aragonese sports federations, provided they meet the requirements of Annexes I to III and the established deadlines. An administrative appeal (recurso de alzada) may be filed against the resolution of the call before the Minister of Presidency, Justice, Culture, and Sport within one month of its publication.

Sports specialization constitutes the stage that goes from the detection of talent to its consolidation as a high-level athlete. The improvement of training conditions and the achievement of future goals for Aragonese athletes depend on its proper programming; therefore, this call is decisive for the generational renewal of sports in the Community.
