Aragón convoca 320.000 euros para proyectos culturales municipales en espacios escénicos

The Government of Aragon has announced grants totaling 320,000 euros for municipal cultural projects within the framework of the Aragonese Network of Performing Arts Spaces (RAEE) program for 2026. The call is approved by Order PJC/1385/2026, dated September 16, published in the Official Gazette of Aragon number 189, dated September 29, 2026 (csv: BOA20260929011), the extract of which appears in section V of announcements (csv: BOA20260929021). Interested city councils have ten business days from the day following the publication of the extract to submit their applications.

The order is issued by the Vice President and Councilor for Presidency, Justice, Culture and Sport, María del Mar Vaquero Perianez, at the proposal of the General Directorate of Culture and Cultural Heritage, and is supported by the regulatory bases of Order ECD/1248/2022, dated September 6, modified by Order ECD/1803/2022 and Order ECD/126/2025. The line is listed as subsidy 9 of the Strategic Subsidy Plan 2025-2027, within program 458.1 “Promotion of Culture”.

The RAEE program stems from the agreement signed on July 24, 2026, between the Government of Aragon and the Provincial Councils of Huesca, Teruel and Zaragoza, and seeks to bring music, theater, dance, and circus to the public performing arts spaces of Aragonese municipalities. The call is processed under a simplified competitive bidding regime and is financed through budget application G/18060/4581/460027/91002, within the Local Fund of Aragon. It is identified in the National Subsidy Database with number 911468.

Requirements for performing arts spaces

Aragonese city councils that own, lease, or hold by any other legal title a performing arts space intended for cultural activities may be beneficiaries. Multi-purpose rooms are not considered performing arts spaces. The venues must meet:

  • Minimum capacity of 200 seats.
  • Stage with a minimum opening of 7 meters and a depth of 5 meters.
  • Storage for materials.
  • Booth with equipment or sufficient space in the seating area for lighting, sound, and projection consoles.
  • Dressing rooms with tables, chairs, and lighted mirrors for makeup.

City councils participating for the first time or with a new space must submit a responsible declaration and obtain prior approval from the General Directorate of Culture and Cultural Heritage.

Amounts and co-financing

The Government of Aragon will co-finance up to 35% of the budget of each annual RAEE project, with these limits:

  • Performing arts programming: up to 21,000 euros per city council, based on a maximum eligible budget of 60,000 euros.
  • Complementary cultural project: up to 3,500 euros, based on a maximum budget of 10,000 euros.
  • Total maximum funding per city council: 24,500 euros.

The grants are compatible with other subsidies and income, including box office receipts, but the grant may not exceed 80% of the eligible budget; therefore, each council must provide at least 20% of its own funding.

Performing arts programming and cultural project

Each city council shall present an annual project with the planned programming, which must include:

  • A minimum of 6 performances distributed throughout the year.
  • A minimum budget of 20,000 euros.
  • At least 40% of the budget allocated to Aragonese producers, companies, and artistic groups.
  • A minimum expenditure of 5% in each discipline: dance, music, theater, and circus, counting circus and theater as a single discipline.
  • Shows included in the RAEE Catalog; those held outside of associated venues may not exceed 40% of the budget.

The complementary cultural project may be oriented toward training or attracting new audiences, the dissemination of dance or new artistic trends, and artistic creation programs, and it may not replace or reduce the minimum budget of the performing arts programming.

Deadlines and processing

  • Application period: ten business days from the day following the publication of the summary in the Official Gazette of Aragon.
  • Eligible expenses: from November 15, 2025, to November 14, 2026, with the recognition of the obligation in the municipal accounting before December 3, 2026.
  • Maximum resolution period: three months from the end of the application period; the order will be published in the Official Gazette of Aragon.
  • Submission: exclusively electronic, through the General Electronic Registry of Aragon and the standardized form Annex I.

The call reinforces performing arts programming in the Aragonese rural environment and provides continuity to a network that supports the hiring of Aragonese companies and citizen access to culture outside of the capitals. For city councils, the ten-business-day window makes the prior preparation of the annual project and supporting documentation decisive.
