Aragón grants direct subsidies to three rural cultural parks

The Official Gazette of Aragon number 171, dated September 3, 2026, publishes three orders from the Vice Presidency of the Government and Department of Presidency, Justice, Culture and Sport providing for the publication of respective agreements that grant direct subsidies to the cultural parks of the Vero River, the Martín River, and the Benasque Valley. The grants, provided for in Law 12/1997, of December 3, on Cultural Parks of Aragon, finance the current and investment expenses of these spaces corresponding to the 2026 fiscal year.

The three agreements, signed between the Government of Aragon and the constituent city councils of each park, are registered in the General Registry of Agreements of the Autonomous Community and are published in accordance with sections 5 and 6 of article 151 of Law 5/2021, of June 29, on the Organization and Legal Regime of the Autonomous Public Sector of Aragon, and article 13 of Decree 57/2012, of March 7, which regulates said registry. Three parks, three agreements

Each order details the granting of a direct subsidy to a cultural park, with its corresponding agreement number and signing date:

The beneficiary municipalities

The grants reach a total of 17 rural city councils, which act as constituent members of each cultural park:

Vero River: Adahuesca, Alquézar, Bárcabo, and Colungo.
Martín River: Albalate del Arzobispo, Alcaine, Ariño, Montalbán, Oliete, and Alacón.
Benasque Valley: Benasque, Bisaurri, Castejón de Sos, Chía, Sahún, Seira, and Villanova.

Signature and processing

The agreements were signed by the Vice President and Councilor for Presidency, Justice, Culture and Sport of the Government of Aragon together with the mayors of the involved municipalities. The publication orders, dated in Zaragoza on August 25, 2026, are signed by delegation by the Technical General Secretary of the department, Cristina Asensio Grijalba, by virtue of the Order of November 28, 2024, of the Councilor for Presidency, Economy and Justice.

Processing as a direct grant, under Law 12/1997, allows these cultural parks to receive nominative funding to sustain their ordinary operations and undertake investments throughout the 2026 fiscal year, without the need to go through a competitive bidding process.

Relevance for the territory

The publication of these three agreements reinforces the support of the Government of Aragon for the community’s network of cultural parks, spaces that coordinate heritage protection, cultural revitalization, and tourism in rural areas of Huesca and Teruel. By channeling resources toward 17 small municipalities, the grants contribute to stabilizing the population, maintaining facilities, and enhancing heritage and landscape sites of great appeal, in a year where cultural investment becomes a lever for local development.
