The agreement for the Monte Porreiro table tennis pavilion has been approved
Por FactBox Admin

The Local Government Board of the Pontevedra City Council approved, in its extraordinary and urgent session on October 19, 2026, the agreement with the Department of Presidency, Justice and Sports of the Xunta de Galicia for the execution of the construction works of the table tennis sports pavilion in the Monte Porreiro neighborhood. The agreement was processed under reference 2026/CONVADMIVO/000017 and appears in the summary of agreements 2026/ASXGL/000059, published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Pontevedra (BOPPO) no. 204, corresponding to Thursday, October 22, 2026, in the Local Administration section.
The BOPPO, published by the Provincial Council of Pontevedra, is the medium through which the Pontevedra City Council publicizes the agreements of its governing bodies. In this case, it is a summary, that is, a succinct list of the points discussed and approved, and not the full text of the agreement signed with the regional administration.
An extraordinary and urgent session
The session on October 19 was extraordinary and urgent, and the first item on the agenda was precisely the ratification of that urgency, according to the published summary. The table tennis pavilion agreement occupied the second item.
The third and final item of the same session was the approval of the file for the private advertising sponsorship contract with the Association of Film Journalists of Spain (AICE) for the sponsorship of the city during the 14th edition of the Feroz Awards, under reference 2026/PATRO/000003. The summary only includes these three matters, in addition to the ratification of the urgency.
The background of the grant application
The decision has an immediate background documented in the bulletin itself. In BOPPO no. 203, of October 21, 2026, summary 2026/ASXGL/000057 of the ordinary session of October 15 records, in point H, the acknowledgment of the Mayoral decree by which the grant application—implemented through an agreement before the Department of Presidency, Justice and Sport of the Xunta de Galicia—is reformulated for the financing of the construction works of the table tennis sports pavilion in the Monte Porreiro neighborhood in Pontevedra, under reference 2026/SOLAX/000018.
In other words, the city council had already been processing a grant application via an agreement to finance the facility, and this reformulation was made known to the Local Government Board four days before the same body approved the agreement. The two official documents do not coincide in the exact name of the regional department: the one from October 21 writes “Sport” in the singular and the one from October 22 writes “Sports”.
What the summary details and what is left out
The published extract limits its information to the title of the agreement, its administrative reference, and its location in the Monte Porreiro neighborhood. It does not provide data on the amount of the agreement, the distribution of funding between the Xunta de Galicia and the Pontevedra City Council, the planned area, the number of courts, the execution deadlines, nor the procurement procedure for the works.
Nor does it identify the persons participating in the session or the full text of the agreement, which is not reproduced in the bulletin. The extract does, however, reproduce the official designation of the agreement, in which the word “DEPORTIVO” (SPORTS) appears duplicated (“PAVILLÓN DEPORTIVO DEPORTIVO PARA TENIS DE MESA”), exactly as it appears in the published document.
The relevance of the news lies in the fact that, for the first time, there is official record, in an agreement of the local governing body, of a specific agreement with the regional administration to build a facility dedicated exclusively to table tennis in a densely populated neighborhood like Monte Porreiro. The construction schedule, however, cannot be deduced from what was published: the extract sets neither deadlines nor amounts, so the concrete details will only be known when the text of the agreement or the subsequent procurement procedures are released.
