Irrigation for the Villadangos Canal in León approved

The Agricultural Technological Institute of Castilla y León (ITACyL) has approved the irrigation modernization project for the Villadangos Canal Irrigation Community (León), in its phase I, through a resolution dated August 18, 2026, by its Director General. The decision is published in the Official Gazette of Castilla y León number 162, dated August 21, 2026, with official reference BOCYL-D-21082026-162-12.

The resolution, signed by the Director General of ITACyL, David González Huerta, gives the green light to a project drafted by the Agricultural Engineer Teodoro Martínez García in January 2026, with a base tender budget of 10,474,430.51 euros. The file is processed under code 2022/000177.

Processing and public exhibition

The project was submitted for public information in accordance with Article 83 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure, with announcements inserted in various media and agencies:

The list of affected assets and rights and the expropriation plans were open to the public for 20 business days at the Territorial Unit of León of ITACyL and in the aforementioned city councils. No objections were filed during the process.

Content of the approval

The resolution establishes the definitive list of affected assets and rights and their holders, coinciding with the one published in the announcement of B.O.C. y L. no. 119. Additionally, it sets the classification required for works contractors applying for the award:

Group E, Subgroup 7, Category 6

The approval is based on the report issued on August 17, 2026, by the Engineering and Projects Unit of the Sub-directorate of Agricultural Infrastructure of ITACyL and on the proposal of the Sub-director of Agricultural Infrastructure dated August 18, 2026, in accordance with Article 231 of Law 9/2017, of November 8, on Public Sector Contracts.

Appeals and scope

An administrative appeal (recurso de alzada) may be filed against the resolution before the Vice-Counselor of Community Agricultural Policy and Rural Environment within one month, counting from the day following its publication in the Official Gazette of Castilla y León. The irrigation modernization will benefit the irrigators of Villadangos del Páramo and Chozas de Abajo, with the objective of improving water efficiency in the area.

The approval of this phase I represents a significant step toward the modernization of irrigation infrastructures in the Leonese region, in line with the objectives of saving and efficient water use in the agricultural sector of Castilla y León, and opens the door to the future tendering of the works.
