The demarcation of the Solanillas public forest in Sevilleja de la Jara has been approved

The Regional Ministry of Sustainable Development of the Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha has approved the boundary demarcation of public utility forest number 38, named “Solanillas”, located in the municipality of Sevilleja de la Jara (Toledo). The resolution, signed on June 19, 2026, by the Regional Minister M. Mercedes Gómez Rodríguez, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cáceres (No. 0176, September 15, 2026, Section II - Autonomous Administration), with official reference BOP-2026-4310.

The case, processed by the Provincial Delegation of Sustainable Development of Toledo, is conducted in accordance with Decree 485/1962 (Forestry Regulations), Law 43/2003 on Forests, and Law 3/2008 on Forests and Sustainable Forest Management of Castilla-La Mancha. The procedure began by agreement on January 10, 2025, with the boundary marking (apeo) held on June 5, 2025, followed by the viewing and hearing phase of the file.

A forest of 809 hectares in three zones

The “Solanillas” forest, registered in the catalog of public utility forests of the province of Toledo and belonging to the Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha, is defined in its entirety by the boundary marking act, the topographic registry, and the demarcation map. Its total area amounts to 809.49 hectares, distributed across three zones:

• Zone A: 507.41 ha
• Zone B: 178.00 ha
• Zone C: 124.08 ha

The forest has no enclaves and only supports the usual easements for passage via roads. The forest species present are Pinus pinaster, Quercus ilex, and Quercus suber.

Limits and boundaries

The perimeter of the forest is georeferenced using UTM coordinates (ETRS89 datum, zone 30N), and its boundaries are established with the following adjacencies:

• North: “Valderromero y Cerro del Torozo” forest (No. 41 in the catalog) and the N-502 highway
• East: N-502 highway and TO-1099 road
• South: N-502 highway, “Los Beatos” forest (No. 42), and private estates
• West: municipality of Alía (Cáceres), Piedra Forada stream, Puerto Rey gorge, and private estates

During the processing, the Tagus Hydrographic Confederation and the Guadiana Hydrographic Confederation submitted documentation, the latter in relation to the watercourses that cross or are adjacent to the forest. The demarcation operations were directed by the operating engineer Cesar Angel Sanz Castro, who was replaced on May 16, 2025, by Francisco Javier Romero Fernández.

A dismissed claim

During the allegations period, a single claim was received, filed by R.N.M., in their capacity as sole administrator of the company R.A.Q., S.L., who alleged that the location of the boundary markers between numbers 92 and 102 encroached upon their property. The Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha dismissed the request as the mountain was previously registered in the Property Registry of El Puente del Arzobispo, applying the principle of registry priority.

The resolution orders that the new data be entered into the Property Registry and the catalog of public utility forests of Toledo, as well as to proceed with the marking of the mountain’s boundaries. An appeal for reversal may be filed against this resolution within one month, or a contentious-administrative appeal may be filed before the High Court of Justice of Castilla-La Mancha (Albacete seat) within two months.

The approval of the boundary demarcation provides legal certainty to the adjacent property owners in the area by precisely fixing the limits of the public ownership of the mountain and allowing for its correct forest management and cartographic representation.
