Family respite grants approved for the Valle del Ambroz

The Mancomunidad Integral de Municipios del Valle del Ambroz has definitively approved the guidelines for the call for financial aid to access the Family Respite program intended for habitual non-professional caregivers during 2026. The announcement, signed by president Sara Pérez Martín in Hervás on August 19, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Cáceres (No. 0160, of August 21, 2026), with reference CVE: BOP-2026-3989.

As no claims were filed during the public exhibition period, the initial plenary agreement is automatically elevated to definitive status, in compliance with Article 70.2 of Law 7/1985, of April 2, on the Bases of the Local Regime. The call is framed within the agreement of March 17, 2026, of the Governing Council of the Junta de Extremadura, which approves the Municipal Economic Collaboration Program for the family respite service (DOE No. 61, of March 30, 2026).

Purpose and Beneficiaries

The grants seek to promote the reconciliation of personal, family, and work life for those residing in the municipalities of the mancomunidad between January 1 and December 31, 2026, and who are habitually dedicated to the non-professional care of:

Persons in a situation of dependency (grades I, II, and III according to Law 39/2006) with a recognized disability equal to or greater than 33%.
Persons with a recognized disability equal to or greater than 75%, even if they do not have recognized dependency, if the need is justified by the basic social care service.
In both cases, when they do not have a public place in residential care or a benefit linked to this service.

Eligible Services

The program finances four modalities of respite, with limits on hours and costs:

Accompaniment and home assistance: maximum of 65 hours per person per year.
Circumstantial accompaniment and leisure: maximum of 36 hours per year, during daytime, nighttime, weekends, and holidays.
Assistance in a non-socio-sanitary establishment: maximum cost of €504 per person and €72 per day.
Assistance in a socio-sanitary establishment: maximum of 10 days per year, with €70 daily in a residential regime and €40 daily in day or night services.

Professional care personnel must provide accreditation of qualifications such as Nursing Auxiliary Care Technician, Technician in Care for Persons in a Situation of Dependency, or professional certificates in socio-sanitary care, among others.

Deadline and Processing

Applications shall be submitted to the Basic Social Care Social Services of the applicant’s municipality, and the application period will remain open from the day following the publication of the call until November 30, 2026, unless the funds are exhausted. The president of the association of municipalities will issue the resolution following a technical report from the basic social service, with a maximum period of two months to resolve.

Payment will be made directly to the service provider or to the beneficiary if they have previously paid the invoice. Given the social nature of the aid, beneficiaries shall not be required to prove they are up to date with their tax and Social Security obligations, and the granted aid will not be published as it concerns individuals or families in situations of vulnerability.

Impact

The call represents economic and social support for families in the Ambroz Valley who provide care for dependent persons or persons with disabilities, offering them hours of rest and work-life balance. With an allocation of 8,689.29 euros for 2026, the program reinforces comprehensive care in rural areas and alleviates the burden on non-professional caregivers, an essential group in the region’s care network.
