Pedestrian and cyclist path on the AC-550 in Porto do Son approved

The Council of the Xunta de Galicia has definitively approved the layout project for the pedestrian and cyclist itinerary on the AC-550 in Porto do Son, reference AC/25/085.06, with a base tender budget, VAT included, of 2,648,005.85 euros. The decision, adopted on September 7, 2026, was published via a resolution dated September 8, 2026, by the Galician Infrastructure Agency in the Official Gazette of Galicia (Diario Oficial de Galicia) no. 175, on September 15, 2026.

The action is eligible for co-financing by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), within the framework of the Galicia ERDF 2021-2027 program. The resolution, signed by the director of the Galician Infrastructure Agency, María Deza Martínez, includes the agreement of the Council of the Xunta as an annex.

Background of the file

The project was submitted for public information through the announcement of April 29, 2026, published in the Official Gazette of Galicia no. 88, on May 13, 2026, along with the individual list of affected assets, rights, and owners. The now-approved agreement validates the public information process and the report from the affected administrations, and incorporates a modification regarding the initial layout:

• The layout of the path is adjusted in the surroundings of the future service station to be installed at kilometer point 81+540, adapting the route to the access speed change wedges.

Effects of the definitive approval

The definitive approval of the layout project implies the declaration of public utility, the need for the occupation of assets and the acquisition of the rights necessary for the execution of the works, as well as the urgency of the occupation, for the purposes of expropriation, temporary occupation, or imposition of easements, according to article 22.5 of Law 8/2013, of June 28, on Galician roads.

Pursuant to article 23.1 of the same law, the City Council of Porto do Son, where the infrastructures subject to the project are located, must adapt its urban planning to the contents of the project within one year and, in any case, in its first modification or revision.

Appeals and deadlines

Against the agreement, which ends the administrative route, a contentious-administrative appeal may be filed before the High Court of Justice of Galicia within two months from the day following its publication. Previously and optionally, a motion for reconsideration may also be presented within one month, using model IF321B available on the electronic office of the Xunta de Galicia.

The pedestrian and cyclist path of the AC-550 will reinforce sustainable mobility on one of the access roads to the coast of the region, connecting the center of Porto do Son with a safe infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists, financed with European funds and requiring the adaptation of municipal urban planning in the coming year.
