Antonio Puig registers the After Churros trademark for perfumery and cosmetics
Por FactBox Admin

The perfumery firm Antonio Puig, S.A. has applied for the registration of the trademark After Churros for cosmetic and perfumery products. The application, number M 4376234, is published in the Official Bulletin of Industrial Property (BOPI) of September 3, 2026, in its Volume I dedicated to trademarks and other distinctive signs.
The BOPI, edited by the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM), an autonomous body attached to the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, is the official journal where industrial property applications and resolutions in Spain are disseminated. The application was filed on April 23, 2026, and appears in the trademark applications section of bulletin number 7230, corresponding to year CXL.
A striking bet by the Spanish giant
Antonio Puig, S.A., headquartered at Plaza Europa 46-48 in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona), is one of the large perfumery and fashion groups in Spain. The choice of a name as evocative as After Churros for a cosmetics and perfumery line constitutes a striking commercial bet, connecting Spanish gastronomic tradition with the universe of fragrances.
The application was processed through the industrial property agent ELZABURU, S.L.P., with offices in Madrid. The registration is requested under class 03 of the Nice Classification, which covers cosmetic and perfumery products.
What the trademark protects
Class 03 covers a wide range of products, including:
- Perfumes, colognes, eau de parfum, eau de toilette, and perfume extracts.
- Cosmetic products and non-medicinal toiletry preparations, including makeup, creams, lotions, and bath gels.
- Non-medicinal soaps, shampoos, deodorants, and antiperspirants for personal use.
- Essential oils, home fragrances, incense, and laundry fragrance products.
- Non-medicinal preparations for skin care, hair care, and oral hygiene.
The name After Churros is published in standard characters, without claims to figurative elements or color, according to the bibliographic data collected in the bulletin.
Opposition period
With the publication of the application, a two-month period opens for any person who considers themselves aggrieved to file an opposition before the OEPM against the registration, in accordance with article 19 of Law 17/2001, of December 7, on Trademarks, and article 17 of Royal Decree 687/2002, of July 12, which approves its implementing Regulation.
The publication of the application does not imply the automatic granting of the trademark: the OEPM will examine the application and resolve its registration once the opposition period has elapsed. The official reference of the announcement is CVE-BOPI-T1-20260903-00000008.
The decision of a group of Antonio Puig’s scale to register a brand as singular as After Churros reflects the sector’s trend of seeking catchy names with cultural roots to differentiate its launches. If the trademark is granted, consumers may see fragrances and cosmetics on the market that play with Spanish gastronomic identity, a move that interests both the sector and the general public.
