Andalucía fija la línea delimitadora entre Albanchez y Cantoria, en Almería

The Official Gazette of the Junta de Andalucía (BOJA) no. 213, dated November 4, 2026, publishes the Order of October 27, 2026, from the Ministry of Tourism, Justice, Deregulation and Local Administration, which establishes, through demarcation and staking-out actions, the identifying data of the boundary line between the municipal terms of Albanchez and Cantoria, both in the province of Almería. The text, identified as text no. 14406, spans four pages and appears in section 3. Other provisions of the gazette. With this publication, the delimitation between both Almería municipalities is fixed in an official document.

The order does not create or suppress municipal terms: its purpose is to determine the identifying data of the line separating both terms, that is, the result of the technical demarcation and staking-out actions on the ground. The Ministry of Tourism, Justice, Deregulation and Local Administration is the department of the Andalusian Government responsible for this matter, and the insertion of the text in the BOJA provides official publicity to the resulting line, which becomes the reference for municipal cartography and for administrative action in the border strip.

The publication of this order is not an isolated case. In the preceding weeks, the same gazette has been collecting resolutions of the same type regarding pairs of Andalusian municipalities, mostly from the province of Almería, which outlines a sequence of delimitation works being finalized this autumn.

What the resolution fixes and where it is published

  • Issuing body: Ministry of Tourism, Justice, Deregulation and Local Administration.
  • Date of the order: October 27, 2026.
  • Publication: BOJA no. 213, Wednesday, November 4, 2026, section 3. Other provisions.
  • Purpose: identifying data of the boundary line between Albanchez and Cantoria (Almería), through demarcation and staking-out.
  • Text length: four pages, reference text no. 14406.

The content of the order is limited to the identification of the line, without altering the ownership of the terms or the municipal organization: the delimitation is the technical premise upon which subsequent administrative decisions affecting the contact zone between both city councils are based.

A series of demarcations in the province of Almería

The order for Albanchez and Cantoria is added to other demarcation and staking-out resolutions already published in the BOJA in recent weeks:

  • Order of October 27, 2026 approving the relaying of the line between Adra and Berja (Almería), text no. 14361, published on November 3, 2026.
  • Order of October 27, 2026 establishing, by means of demarcation, the line between Antas and Zurgena (Almería), text no. 14360, from the same bulletin.
  • Order of October 22, 2026 regarding the line between Abla (Almería) and Baza (Granada), text no. 14235, published on October 29, 2026.
  • Orders of October 22, 2026 referring to the lines between Casarabonela and Yunquera, and between Rincón de la Victoria and Totalán, both in the province of Málaga, texts no. 14233 and 14232.

The common pattern is the same: demarcation or relaying actions, approval via an order from the regional ministry, and full publication in the other provisions section of the bulletin, with a usual length of four to five pages per resolution.

Small municipalities and effects on the border strip

Albanchez, with National Statistics Institute code 04004, is also listed among the municipalities included in the annex of low population density areas published in BOJA no. 201, of October 16, 2026, a condition that regional regulations take into account for the purposes of certain aid lines.

For residents and property owners in the contact strip between Albanchez and Cantoria, the practical consequence is that the reference line ceases to be a disputed matter and becomes defined in an official text: upon it depend the attribution of municipal competencies over the land, the cadastral reference of the plots, and the provision of services on the edges of the district.

The closure of this file also provides legal certainty to the two city councils, which from now on have a document published in the official bulletin to refer to in the event of any discrepancy regarding the scope of their municipal district.
