Andalusia extends the bidding deadline for the management of the Port of Almerimar
Por FactBox Admin

The Public Ports Agency of Andalusia has extended the deadline for the submission of bids for the selection process of bidders for the granting of the public domain concession for the management of the Port of Almerimar. The decision was adopted via an Agreement of the Director General dated October 26, 2026, disseminated through the Announcement of October 28, 2026, published in the Official Gazette of the Government of Andalusia (BOJA) No. 212, dated November 3, 2026. The text, consisting of a single page, appears in section 5.2 of other official announcements and carries the reference text no. 14355.
The announcement is included in the publications block of the Ministry of Public Works and Mobility, the department upon which the port policy of the Government of Andalusia depends and to which the actions of the public agency are linked. The purpose of the procedure is the granting of a public domain concession for the management of the Port of Almerimar, a facility located on the coast of the province of Almería, in the municipality of El Ejido.
The administrative sequence is standard for this type of file: first, a selection process for bidders is opened, in which interested parties submit their bids, and subsequently, the public domain concession is formalized in favor of the selected proposal. The agreement now published affects the first phase—the attraction and submission of bids—although the wording of the official announcement does not specify the new deadline resulting from the extension.
What is being extended and to what extent
The agreement of the Director General of the Public Ports Agency of Andalusia is limited to extending the deadline for the submission of bids for the procedure already convened. Therefore, this is not a new call for bids nor a change in the object of the contract: what is being modified is the submission calendar for proposals for the competition aimed at the management of the Port of Almerimar.
The published announcement does not detail the new submission deadline in its title, meaning the specific calendar is referred back to the text of the agreement. The BOJA of November 3 also does not accompany the initial call for the procedure, which was processed previously.

Who it affects
The extension is of direct interest to nautical operators, port service companies, and sector societies that were preparing their proposals for the tender. A longer deadline allows for the completion of the documentation and technical reports required in these types of public domain concession procedures.
The scope of the measure is, however, limited: it does not alter the operating conditions or the concession regime, but only the time frame for competing. Any interested party must refer to the provisions of the agreement of October 26, 2026, to know the exact closing date.
The extension of deadlines in port management tenders usually responds to the complexity of the bids, which include investment commitments and long-term operating plans for public domain facilities. In this case, the announcement is published barely a week after the date of the agreement, with no further intermediate procedures reflected in the bulletin.
For the Almerian nautical sector, the news arrives at a time of reactivation of concession procedures for port infrastructures owned by the autonomous community. The management of the Port of Almerimar is a relevant piece due to its volume of berths and its weight in the recreational and sporting activity of the area, which explains the operators’ interest in the tender calendar.
