Amposta tenders the 40-year concession of the University Auditorium

The Amposta City Council Plenary, in an extraordinary and urgent session held on 14 August 2026, agreed to approve the administrative file for the award, by means of a public tender under free competition, of the administrative concession for the private use of the Amposta University Auditorium building. The concession, published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Tarragona on 18 August 2026 under reference CVE 2026-07847, has a duration of forty years and its main objective is to guarantee the continuity of current university studies and expand the training offer.

Object and term of the concession

The tender concerns the building located at Carrer Sebastià Juan Arbó, number 1, and its purpose is to carry out the renovation, adaptation and expansion works necessary to implement new studies, especially in the field of health. In addition to the management of the university teaching centre, the aim is to guarantee the continuity of the existing training offer in Montsià.

Procedure and public participation

The public information period is thirty business days, counted from the day following the last publication of the notice in the BOP of Tarragona and in the Contractor Profile of Amposta City Council. During this period, interested parties may examine the file and the administrative clause specifications, visit the space subject to the concession, submit allegations and claims, and present their proposals.

Planning condition

The processing and publication of the tender are carried out while the definitive approval of the Punctual modification of municipal urban planning plan number 64 remains pending. Consequently, the award of the concession is conditional upon this modification having previously been definitively approved, published in the Official Gazette of the Government of Catalonia and being fully enforceable.

Implications and relevance

The administrative concession of the Amposta University Auditorium represents a key opportunity for the development of higher education in Montsià. The involvement of a private entity to carry out the expansion works and introduce health studies can transform the educational and socio-economic offer of the area, reinforcing the city’s role as a university hub.
