Expansion of pig farm in Villalón de Campos opens for public consultation

The Regional Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Affairs and Environmental Policy of the Regional Government of Castilla y León has opened for public consultation the request for environmental authorization to expand a pig fattening farm in the municipality of Villalón de Campos (Valladolid), increasing from 2,176 to 3,864 places. The announcement is published in the Official Gazette of Castilla y León number 175, dated September 9, 2026, and opens a period of 30 business days for residents and entities to submit allegations.
The file, number 014-26-AAVA, affects plot 28 of polygon 402 of the aforementioned municipality in Valladolid. The project promoter is Santiago Villalón San José, and the resolution is signed by the Director General of Environmental Policy, José Guirao Sola, dated August 29, 2026.
Regulatory Framework
The processing is based on Royal Legislative Decree 1/2016, of December 16, which approves the revised text of the Law on Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control, as well as Legislative Decree 1/2015, of November 12, the revised text of the Environmental Prevention Law of Castilla y León.
The facility is classified under Annex 1, section 9.3.b, of the aforementioned royal decree, which includes intensive pig breeding facilities with more than 2,000 places for fattening pigs over 30 kg, equivalent to 2,500 places for fattening pigs over 20 kg.

During the period for allegations, the file may be examined Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, at two locations in Valladolid:

- Territorial Environmental Service of Valladolid, C/ Duque de la Victoria, 8.

How to Submit Allegations
Interested parties may submit allegations and observations within the period of 30 business days, starting from the day following the publication of the announcement, in accordance with Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.
Allegations are to be submitted to the Directorate General of Environmental Policy, stating the mandatory file number 014-26-AAVA, and may be processed through the form enabled on the electronic office of the Regional Government of Castilla y León.
The expansion of the pig farm, by exceeding the threshold of 2,000 fattening places, has a direct impact on the environment and the coexistence of the Tierra de Campos region; therefore, citizen participation in this process is key for residents and entities to present their observations before the final environmental decision is adopted.
