Deadline for Sierra de San Pedro LEADER grants extended until October

The Association for the Development of the Sierra de San Pedro-Los Baldíos has extended the deadline for submitting applications for the first call for grants for the application of the Participatory Local Development Strategy and the LEADER 2023-2027 methodology in the region until October 1, 2026. The extension affects the two non-productive project lines called for: basic service actions for the economy and rural population, and the renovation of towns in rural areas.

The decision is published in the Official Gazette of Extremadura number 164, dated August 25, 2026, through two summary modifications with references 2026062195 and 2026062196, registered in the National Grants Database with identifiers 914855 and 914856, respectively.

A deadline extended by two months

The original summary of the call was published in the Official Gazette of Extremadura number 124, dated June 30, 2026, and set a deadline for submitting applications of two months starting from the day following its publication. With the extension, the new limit is set for October 1, 2026.

The extension is supported by Article 32 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations, which allows the Administration to extend established deadlines, not exceeding half of the original period, when circumstances advise it and the rights of third parties are not harmed. The call is also governed by Articles 17.3.b) and 20.8.a) of the General Grants Law 38/2003, of November 17.

Who decides and how it is processed

The extension was agreed upon by the President of the association, empowered to do so by the Board of Directors in a session held on April 14, 2026, according to the certificate issued by the entity’s Secretary. The measure was authorized by the General Directorate of Rural Development, dated July 28, 2026.

Who benefits

The extension provides more leeway for entities and entrepreneurs in the Sierra de San Pedro-Los Baldíos region to submit non-productive projects aimed at stabilizing the population and improving basic services in rural areas. With this expansion, the association seeks to facilitate the participation of interested parties in a program co-financed with European funds, in a context where demographic renewal and the provision of services are key to the sustainability of the municipalities in the area.
