Ames announces grants of up to 1,500 euros for large families.

Por FactBox Admin

The City Council of Ames opens the call for economic support subsidies for large families for fiscal year 2026, with a maximum amount of 100,000 euros. This was agreed by the Local Government Board on August 6, and the excerpt is published this Friday, August 14, in the Official Gazette of the Province of A Coruña (notice 2026/5346).

The call, registered in the National Database of Subsidies with identifier BDNS 924511, is processed under articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of Law 38/2003, of November 17, on General Subsidies. The objective is to support cohabitation units qualified as large families by the Department of Social Policy of the Government of Galicia —or equivalent bodies of other autonomous communities— that show the greatest need, proven by family per capita income, favoring the increase in population and sustainable demographic growth in the municipality. The notice appears signed by the mayor, José Blas García Piñeiro, dated August 11.

Amount of the aid

The credit allocated to the call amounts to 100,000 euros, charged to budgetary item 2311.489.02 of the 2026 municipal budget. The individual amount varies according to family type:

  • 1,200 euros per cohabitation unit in general.
  • 1,500 euros for single-parent families.
  • Foster families in temporary foster care will receive an amount proportional to the duration of the foster care.
  • If the admitted applications exceed the available credit, a proportional reduction of the individual amount will be applied.

Who can benefit

Cohabitation units with habitual residence in the City Council of Ames that meet the general and specific requirements of the call may apply for the aid:

  • Uninterrupted habitual residence of at least one year on the date of submission of the application.
  • Valid large family certificate, with children born before or during 2025.
  • All minors included in the certificate must be part of the same cohabitation unit.
  • In the event of separation or divorce, the aid corresponds to the parent with custody; with shared custody only one subsidy will be granted.
  • Being up to date with obligations to the Tax Agency, the Social Security and the City Council, and not being subject to the prohibitions of article 13 of Law 38/2003.

Income and asset limits

Applicants must submit the IRPF tax return for fiscal year 2025, and the income of the cohabitation unit may not exceed the following net income limits:

  • 3 members: 14,108.01 euros; 4 members: 16,734.20 euros.
  • 5 members: 18,990.57 euros; 6 members: 21,168.97 euros.
  • 7 members: 23,227.84 euros; 8 members: 25,274.65 euros.
  • From 8 members onwards: 1,803.73 euros additional for each additional member.

The amount paid for rent or mortgage of the habitual residence —provided that it is the sole ownership of its members— will be deducted from net income, with a maximum of €6,000 per year. Furthermore, the assets of the unit, excluding the habitual residence, may not exceed €36,636.52 (3 members) up to €77,343.76 (8 members), with an additional €8,141.45 per member exceeding that number.

Deadline and processing

The deadline for submitting applications will be one month counted from the day following the publication of the extract in the BOP of A Coruña (14 August 2026); if the deadline ends on a non-working day, it will be understood as extended until the immediately following working day. The full text of the call can be consulted in the National Database of Subsidies (BDNS 924511).

The call represents a new boost to birth-rate support policies in one of the municipalities with the highest demographic growth in the metropolitan area of A Coruña, and may benefit hundreds of households in Ames with three or more minors in their care, especially those with lower incomes.
