Altura opens the call for grants for its bullfighting clubs

Por FactBox Admin

The City Council of Altura has announced the 2026 call for grants intended to finance bullfighting activities organized by the municipality’s peñas (social clubs), under a competitive bidding process. The call, signed by Mayor Rocío Ibáñez Candelera on August 14, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Castellón number 102, dated August 25, 2026, with reference 03723-2026.

The call is governed by the Regulatory Ordinance of the Bases for the granting of subsidies to bullfighting peñas of the municipality of Altura, as well as by Law 38/2003, General Law on Subsidies, Royal Decree 887/2006, and Law 39/2015. The maximum total credit allocated to this line amounts to 5,000.00 euros, charged to the corresponding budgetary application of the 2026 Municipal Budget.

Three lines of aid

The call establishes three distinct lines of subsidies, with maximum amounts per entity:

  • Line A — contracting of cattle and livestock transport: up to €1,500.
  • Line B — health services, ambulance, mandatory insurance, and temporary infrastructure: up to €800.
  • Line C — advertising, dissemination, and linked auxiliary services: up to €200.

Each entity may apply for a subsidy for one or several lines. The individual amount will be determined based on the score obtained according to the criteria of Article 10 of the Ordinance, and the available credit will be distributed proportionally to the score of each beneficiary. In no case may the aid exceed the maximums per line, the effectively justified expenditure, or the amount requested; the remaining credit will be redistributed among the beneficiaries until the available funds are exhausted.

Deadline and method of submission

Bullfighting peñas that meet the requirements of Article 4 of the Regulatory Ordinance may be beneficiaries. Applications must be submitted electronically through the Electronic Office of the City Council of Altura, within a period of 15 business days starting from the day following the publication of the call in the provincial gazette.

The documentation to be submitted includes a standardized application, a detailed report of the activities, a budget broken down by lines, a responsible declaration, certificates of being up to date with payments, and, where applicable, a document accrediting representation. Applications will be evaluated by the Evaluation Commission, with a maximum score of 100 points.

Resolution, justification, and payment

The competent body shall issue a reasoned resolution within a maximum period of six months from the date of publication; if this period expires without an express resolution, the applications shall be deemed rejected by administrative silence. Justification shall be carried out by means of a justification account with a classified list of expenses, complete invoices, and bank payment receipts, with a deadline until December 1, 2026. Payment will be made following the approval of the justification, although an advance of up to 100% may be agreed upon if so determined by the granting resolution. The beneficiary peñas must acknowledge the support of the Alturas City Council in the dissemination media of the subsidized activity.

The call for applications represents direct support for the festive entities of Altura and the local economy, by guaranteeing the continuity of the municipality’s bullfighting activities during the 2026 financial year. An optional appeal for reversal may be filed against the call within one month, or a contentious-administrative appeal within two months.
