Almodóvar sets the price for the nursery school and guarantees free tuition

The City Council of Almodóvar del Campo has approved the regulatory ordinance for the public price for the use of the nursery school service, which sets the enrollment fee at 60 euros and the place with dining services at 253 euros per month. The regulation, signed by Mayor José Lozano García on August 31, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Ciudad Real number 169, dated September 3, 2026.

The ordinance, contained in announcement number 2820, establishes the rates that families must pay for the municipal first-cycle nursery school service. The text also guarantees the free nature of the service for students aged 2 to 3 as long as the City Council is a beneficiary of the subsidy from the Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha (JCCM).

Service Rates

Article 4 of the ordinance sets the amounts to be paid for the provision of the service, determined based on the following elements:

• Enrollment per course: €60/12 months (5 euros per month).
• Cost per place with dining: €253.00/month.
• Cost per reduced-size place: €116.00/month.
• Cost per hour (without food services): €2.00/hour.

Any other service not expressly priced will be valued by the service provider, who must have the corresponding authorization from the City Council for its application. In no case may the rate exceed the established hourly price multiplied by the total number of hours of service provision.

Free Service for Students Aged 2 to 3

In accordance with Decree 34/2024, of July 2, which approves the regulatory bases for the direct granting of subsidies to local entities in Castilla-La Mancha that own nursery schools providing the first cycle of Early Childhood Education to students aged 2-3, the service will be free for those students as long as the City Council is a beneficiary of this subsidy.

The free service is offered for 6 hours a day, guaranteed for at least 10 months. The City Council must record the required data in the EducamosCLM platform, including a list of students in situations of vulnerability, and comply with the publicity obligations of article 20 of the decree.

Annual Review and Subsidy Management

The referenced amounts will be reviewed annually according to the percentage variation of the National General Index of the Consumer Price Index System (CPI) in the twelve months immediately preceding each update, taking the month the ordinance came into force as the reference month.

In the event that the agreement is established with the Junta de Comunidades such that said Administration subsidizes part of the cost, the managing body of the subsidy shall be the City Council, which will economically regularize the situation with the beneficiaries once the final resolution and the payment of the corresponding amounts occur.

The new ordinance provides legal certainty and predictability for the families of Almodóvar del Campo, who will know the cost of the service in advance and may benefit from free tuition for students aged 2 to 3 as long as the regional subsidy lasts. Furthermore, the annual review linked to the CPI guarantees that the rates remain updated without the need for further regulatory modifications.
