Almodóvar del Río publishes list of admitted candidates for two Local Police positions

The Almodóvar del Río City Council has approved the provisional list of admitted and excluded applicants in the selection process to fill two Local Police positions through the open competition system. Mayor’s Resolution No. 2026/00001131, issued on August 14, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Córdoba number 162, dated August 21, 2026 (pages 12555 to 12559).

The provisional list includes 46 admitted applicants and 40 excluded, who will have a period of ten business days to submit corrections or claims starting from the day following the publication. The document is signed by the acting mayor, Rubén López Cantarero, and was signed in Almodóvar del Río on August 18, 2026.

Framework of the selection process

The rules of the call were approved by Mayor’s Resolution No. 2026/00000930, dated April 15, 2026, and published in the BOP of Córdoba (No. 77, April 22), in the Official Gazette of the Junta de Andalucía (No. 91, May 14), and in the Official State Gazette (No. 125, May 22). The positions correspond to the Special Administration Scale, Special Services Sub-scale, Local Police Category, within the municipality’s civil service staff.

The resolution is issued by virtue of the powers conferred by Article 21 of Law 7/1985, of April 2, regulating the Bases of Local Government.

Reasons for exclusion

The 40 provisionally excluded applicants were so designated for the following reasons, which may be corrected within the appeals period:

• (1) Application annex not submitted, not signed, or incorrectly completed.
• (2) ID (DNI) not verified.
• (3) Application submitted after the deadline.
• (4) Qualifying degree not submitted, submitted only on one side, or not duly verified.
• (5) Fee not paid.
• (6) A2 driver’s license not verified.
• (7) B driver’s license not verified.

Among the admitted applicants are, among others, Javier Abad Fernández, Yanira Barba Lora, Daniel Bejarano Lora, Sofía Cartón Camargo, Cristina Molina Heredia, and María Dolores Vivas Medina.

Deadlines and appeals

Following the publication, interested parties may submit corrections or claims within ten business days. Against the final approval of the list, which exhausts the administrative route, a contentious-administrative appeal may be filed before the Contentious-Administrative Courts of Córdoba within two months, in accordance with Articles 114 and 123 of Law 39/2015 and Article 46.1 of Law 29/1998. Additionally, a request for reversal may be filed, as a prior and optional step, before the City Council itself within one month.

Relevance for the municipality

The filling of these two Local Police positions reinforces the security staff of the municipality of Almodóvar del Río, a process that directly affects the applicants and the operational capacity of the force. The resolution is also published on the City Council’s Notice Board, guaranteeing the publicity of the procedure and the right of interested parties to file appeals before final approval.
