The text is signed by the delegated councilwoman Vanesa Lara de la Cruz in Almería, on October 23, 2026.
Deadline, 19-euro fee, and applicant requirements
Applications, addressed to the Honorable Mayoress, shall be submitted preferably through the municipal electronic registry, although they are also accepted via the means provided for in article 16.4 of Law 39/2015. The examination fees amount to 19 euros, in accordance with article 6 of Fiscal Ordinance number 14, and shall be paid via self-assessment.
Among the required requirements are:
- Holding Spanish nationality and having reached sixteen years of age, without exceeding the maximum compulsory retirement age.
- Holding a Higher Technician degree.
- Possessing the functional capacity to perform the duties of the position.
- Not being in a state of disqualification nor having been dismissed through a disciplinary procedure.
- Holding type B and C driving licenses and committing to drive service vehicles.

Five phases: test, practical case, physical tests, and course
The competitive examination begins with a knowledge test consisting of 100 questions with four alternative answers, lasting one and a half hours and being eliminatory in nature, in which one correct answer is deducted for every three errors. Those who pass will then face a one-hour practical case, read in a public session before the Tribunal, along with psychotechnical tests, physical aptitude tests, and a medical examination.
The physical tests include a bench press for thirty seconds with 40 kilos for men and 30 for women, a 1,000-meter run, and 100 meters of freestyle swimming, with minimum marks differentiated by sex and age group. The final stage is an access course of at least 100 hours for firefighting service civil servants and 200 hours for the rest of the applicants, evaluated by the Andalusian Institute of Emergencies and Public Safety (IESPA) or by the local fire school.
Merit scale, tribunal, and calendar
The competition will be valued with a maximum of 40 points: up to 4 for academic qualifications, 15 for experience, 15 for training, 2 for teaching, and 4 for other merits, such as professional certificates in the field of emergencies. The Qualifying Tribunal will consist of a presidency, three members, and a secretariat, with all members having a voice and a vote.
The application period will be activated upon publication in the BOE; subsequently, the provisional list of admitted and excluded candidates will be approved within a maximum period of one month, with ten business days for corrections. The start of the tests is scheduled for December 2026, with at least five business days and a maximum of forty-five between each exercise. An appeal for reversal may be filed against the call within one month, or a contentious-administrative appeal within two months before the Court of Almería.
The call comes in a context of adapting the staff of Andalusian firefighting services to the new regional framework and reinforces the command structure of the municipal Prevention, Firefighting and Rescue Service. For the candidates, it represents an opportunity to access a command category with a syllabus of 16 general topics and 56 specific ones, while for the city, it implies consolidating the operational management of the station in a municipality with industrial, port, and urban-forest interface risks.
