Por FactBox Admin

The Almendralejo City Council has published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz (no. 161, of August 24, 2026) two calls for grants under a competitive bidding process intended for local sports entities for the 2025/2026 season. Together, the grants total 193,600 euros, divided between the promotion of sports schools and the participation of clubs in regional and national competitions. Applications may be submitted for 15 calendar days starting from the day following the publication in the gazette.

The guidelines are published in announcements 3331/2026 (clubs in regional and national competitions) and 3332/2026 (sports schools), accompanied by their respective summaries in the National Grants Database, with identifiers BDNS 925560 and BDNS 925563. The regulatory framework consists of Law 38/2003, General Law on Subsidies, the Royal Decree 887/2006 that develops it, the municipal ordinance regulating subsidies approved by the Plenary on February 27, 2012, and the council’s Strategic Grants Plan 2026-2028.

Two lines of aid for the 2025/2026 season

The call for sports schools allocates 133,100 euros to programs aimed at minors under 18, with a maximum of 11,550 euros per beneficiary. The line for clubs in regional and national competitions has 60,500 euros, with a cap of 8,250 euros per entity. Both are financed through budget application 34100 48000 of the municipal budget, and the Local Government Board reserves the right not to exhaust the total amounts.

Who can apply

Non-profit sports clubs and associations, legally constituted and registered in the records of the General Directorate of Sports of the Junta de Extremadura and the City Council itself, which have signed the collaboration agreement for sports promotion, may apply. Each entity must submit a single application.

Excluded are entities that depend on official bodies, those that had no activity in the 2024/2025 season, those of a private or for-profit nature, and those dependent on neighborhood associations or parents’ associations.

Eligible expenses and processing

Eligible expenses include:

  • Personnel remuneration, insurance, sports equipment, and federation licenses.
  • Travel, accommodation, and meals for athletes and teams.
  • Rental of facilities, judges and referees, competition registration fees, and trophies.
  • Medical services, first aid kits, consultancy, printing and advertising, and training courses.

Applications shall be submitted electronically through the City Council’s electronic office. The assessment is the responsibility of a Evaluation Commission, and the granting of funds will be submitted to the Local Government Board, with a maximum period of six months to resolve. The announcements are signed by Raquel del Puerto Carrasco, representing the mayor-president José María Ramírez Morán.

The call for applications represents a significant boost for the local sporting fabric, as it guarantees funding for both the grassroots level, with schools for minors, and the federated competition of the clubs in Almendralejo. The 15-day deadline requires interested entities to process their applications swiftly so as not to miss the opportunity to access these grants.
